help with cwrsync
Hello everybody I use cwrsync in a mixed servers network to make backup. I have a problem with Windows perms when rsync makes backups from Windows directorys like /winnt or /Documents and Settings. Rsync starts his job, but anytime when the console shows a message like this: "opendir "Area NET" (in unitd) failed: Permission denied" the job stop and the backup is

[Bridge] [PATCH] Module use count must be updated as bridges are created/destroyed
Otherwise 'modprobe -r' on a module having a dependency on bridge will implicitly unload bridge, bringing down all connectivity that was using bridges. lock file information
Does samba store information on lock files in a tdb somewhere? If we have a process that has a lock on a file that we can't get samba to surrender, is there a recommended way of forcing samba to release it? For example, a process on machine A has file B on server X open an locked.. and the machine A hangs for some reason never releasing the lock on file B. Is there a recommended way to tell

Exim as default MTA?
Yes, I've been reading /. :) But this isn't the first time this has occured to me. With all the security vulnerbilties, would it be unreasonable to either change the default MTA from sendmail to Exim/Qmail/Postfix, or give people the option of installing something instead of Sendmail at install time? -- Avleen Vig "Say no to cheese-eating surrender-monkeys"

ocfs2 with cman luster stack
hello, i opened a bug on the ocfs2 bugzilla reporting difficulty i have utilize a different cluster stack than o2cb. link: http://oss.oracle.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1325 to summarize i'd like to use ocfs2 on an ubuntu server with drbd and ctdb. ctdb requires fcntl locks for its lock files. however o2cb doesn't provide that functionality whereas cman (redhat's cluster manager

IPFW logging brokeness?
I don't think I'm trying to do anything amazing, but IPFW's logging features are giving me a real headache. I can't find much in the archives either, but I find it hard to believe others havne't found this too. My rule: add 100 allow log tcp from any to <my IP> <ports> limit src-addr 2 I want connecting parties to be able to form no more than 2 connection. This

sweave question
Hi Everyone: I was having trouble getting the plot size correct when putting a plot in an sweave document. So, I searched on the internet and I found a clever solution where the person uses the cat function to write latex code so he can include the cat code in the chunk and place the plot using width and height. The solution is here: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2009-April/195094.html.

all fonts gone crazy
Hello all, this is my first message to the list. I have wine 20041201, installed on my slack 10.1, and it was working fine, until I installed a software and then all fonts in menus and messages became weird symbols. I am sending a screenshot to show how it is today. Also I will let the image in http://www.igc.usp.br/pessoais/guano/geocalc_wine.jpg Does anyone know what is going on and how to

DTMF not being sent ( RFC2833 )
Hello, I installed Asterisk 1.6.2.17.3 ( latest as of yesterday ) and had multiple problems with DTMF. I have two machines, we'll call them asterisk and asterisk-pri. Asterisk does IVR and asterisk-pri has a PRI card in it and connects to the PSTN. The two servers communicate via SIP with RFC2833. I setup logger.conf on both machines to display DTMF to the console. Both are built from

ubuntu, ocfs2 with cman and ctdb
hi guys, we're evaluating the available clustering options to get ctdb up and running for a highly available file server. we've set up both gluster and ocfs2 both on seperate 2 node setups. ocfs2 seems to provide better throughput and iops to samba clients than does gluster and that is comparing a single node server to a ctdb clustered 2 node server. problem with ocfs2 is that i've

trying to prioritize voip traffick
I am using a server with asterisk and I am trying to prioritize voip traffick -- I am a newbie at this traffic shaping, so please bear with me. I used the script below and what happens is thatall traffic in the bulk class stops after a couple of minutes. Also, should I include the ports for rtp in the filter statements with the ports 5061 and 4569? Note I have a fairly big pipe -- supposed to
