Simple vector question.
I have some data that I read in via read.csv: sales2007 <- read.csv("Total2007.dat", header=TRUE) The data looks like: > sales2007[1:605,] Year DayOfYear Sku Quantity CatId Category SubCategory 1 2007 1 100091 1 10862 HOLIDAY Christmas 2 2007 1 100138 1 11160 PET COSTUMES Famous (Licensed) 3 2007

RESHAPE cast help.
I have a set of data that is basically sales figures for a given year. It has columns for Yeaqr, Day Of Year, Sku, SubCatetory, and Category. The first few lines of data look like: Year DayOfYear Sku Quantity CatId Category SubCategory 1 2007 1 100091 1 10862 HOLIDAY Christmas 2 2007 1 100138 1 11160 PET COSTUMES Famous

wishlist: revisiting subdomain access in routes.rb
...mi-unique solution. Getting away from this particular sort of creativity is one of the primary reasons I love Rails. It might be way, way too late to get anything together in time for 1.1, but I want to reopen this for discussion with an eye to the future. However, Rails-core folks are clearly superheros, so on the off-chance this is a "simple" addition.. here it is. Respectfully, Pete

Dear All, Please help on the following little creatures: 1. When I reboot, the system stays on 'send mail' for a long time. Was not like that before. Why? 2. I have a Conexant modem card (internal) which works well with my other boot on same machine (XP). The modem is on com 3. However, the linux shows me, 'sorry modem is busy' when I try to dial (I configured using KDE). Query

Forcing repacketization on SIP to SIP call
Hi folks I have a handset talking to Asterisk, which in turn puts the call through to an ITSP. The handsets likes to send audio in 40ms frames (even though Asterisk requests 20ms frames with a ptime header in the SDP). The ITSP doesn't request any particular frame length (with ptime) or state a maximum length (with maxptime), so when Asterisk receives the 40ms media frames from the handset,

Dynamic reference, right-hand side of function
Hi again! I know you don't find loops evil (well, at least not diabolic :-) ). (After many hours googling I have realized that thinking about loops rather than lists is a newbie thing we Stata-users do, I just jokingly pointed it out). Anyway, I'm really happy that you try to teach me some R-manners. Since I still get questions about what the h**k I mean by my strange question, I sort it

Dynamic reference, right-hand side of function
By the way, R 'vectors' are not the equivalents of mathematical 'vectors'. In R, a vector is something that can have arbitrary length and which has no 'attributes', other than perhaps element names. Vectors can be numeric, character, complex, lists, etc. Functions, names, and NULL are not vectors. In my opinion, the typical data scientist will rarely find the R vector

Preloading results in Ajax App
Hello Rails lovers! I have a few general discussions that I have yet to find terribly active. Perhaps all of the people busy on this front are...uh...busy on this front. So! Ajax-only apps. No degration. Yes! Forget about degradation for a moment. Not willing to? Ok, well...this question is for those who are willing... Imagine developing an app that is one page - all actions render partials

Loops are not evil, and no-one in this thread said they are. But I believe your failure to provide a reproducible example is creating confusion, since you may be using words that mean one thing to you and something else to the readers here. ################################ # A reproducible example includes a tiny set of sample data # Since we cannot reproducibly refer to filenames (your

:-) I don't insist on anything, I'm just struggling to learn a new language and partly a new way of thinking, and I really appreciate the corrections. I hope I someday will be able to handle lists in R as easy as I handle loops in Stata... Thanks again!
