Stymied by plyr
Hello, This is my first time trying to use plyr, and I'm getting nowhere. I have teacher ratings data (1:4), on 10 components, by external observers and internal observers, in schools in areas. I want to calculate the percentage of each rating given on each component, by each type of observer, within each school, within each area. The data look like this: unit area ext.obs rating comp 11

Accessing elements of a list
I have a list that is made of lists of varying length. I wish to create a new vector that contains the last element of each list. So far I have used sapply to determine the length of each list, but I'm stymied at the part where I index the list to make a new vector containing only the last item of each list mylist = list(c(1,2,3),c("cat","dog"),c("x","y","z","zz")) # Create list last <- sapply(mylist,length) # Make vector with lis...

bitmap images in tcltk
Dear R-help list members, I'm writing a package using tcltk. Thanks to Peter Dalgaard's excellent work on the tcltk package, almost everything has gone very smoothly. I'm stymied, however, by the following problem: I want to incorporate a bitmap image, stored as an xbm file, in a widget. To take a simple example, top <- tktoplevel() tkgrid(tklabel(top, bitmap="@file.xbm", fg="red")) will work as long as file.xbm is in the current direc...

smbclient using SMB2+ against NetApp OnTap 8.2 anyone ?
...me *what part* of the packet it can't parse. Does anyone have access to a NetApp 8.2 box who knows how to get good debug info out of the thing ? I'll log a bug and upload successful connect from Win7 and a fail connection trace from 4.2.0 smbclient so we can track this, but I'm a bit stymied without good errors from OnTap. Jeremy.

CentOS 6.4 login after reboot after apcupsd shutdown - shows POWER FAILURE
..., log everyone out and stop further logins instruction is still lurking around somewhere. How do I regain control of my server?? Does this mean I need to boot with a rescue disk and edit some file somewhere?? How do I prevent this re-occurring, after a perfect shutdown and restart, only to get stymied here. Google has lots of help for dealing with various corruptions due to power failure - not the case here, the POST, grub, init restart all look just fine. TIA

help with eval()
...t.frame())) statement just above the final call shows that it isn't a scope issue: the variables we want are there. I don't understand the logic behind looking for variables in the place the formula was first typed (this is not a complaint). The inability to look elsewhere however has stymied my efforts to fix the scoping problem in predict.coxph, unless I drop the env(formula) argument alltogether. But I assume there must be good reasons for it's inclusion and am reluctant to do so. Terry Therneau > sessionInfo() R version 2.13.0 RC (2011-04-12 r55424) Platform: x86_64-unkno...

HP Zbook17 Dock and UEFI conflict with GK107GLM aka Quadro K1100M
Hi All, I've been running Gentoo on a ZBook with great success for a couple years, but I've been stymied in my attempts to implement SecureBoot by an apparent problem with efifb to nouveaufb handoff, but only when external monitors are attached. The handoff works without issue when the BIOS is in Mixed EFI mode, with and without external monitors, and works in Native EFI mode without external monit...

Uuhmmm.... what makes you think that you can't move jobs from one queue to another when using CUPS? What are your exact requirements when moving jobs? Cheers, Kurt

Puppet Documentation
I''ve been watching the thread where Luke is having to spend time defending his position about documentation. Can we get off that? From my perspective, Luke, I''m glad you have documented as much as you have. I''m one of the few who have been a little stymied by what documentation is available, but in no way do I believe berating you for your lack of documentation is a worthwhile effort. Besides it is my responsibility to understand, not yours to teach. As I learn this system, I''m committed to create documentation that I would have been abl...

Passing stack pointer to statepoint-gc
...#1 = { "gc-leaf-function" nounwind readnone } Note that the target triple is x86_64-pc-windows-msvc. When I test this, the values that come from reading RSP are never in the address space of the module. Like, not even close. As far as I can tell, this should work, and I'm a little stymied as to why I'm getting back garbage. Do I misunderstand the read_register call here?
