mixed-effects model with two fixed effects: interaction
Dear all, In a greenhouse experiment we tested performance of 4 different species (B,H,P,R) under 3 different water levels in 10 replications. As response variable e.g. the number of emerging sprouts were measured on three dates. A simple Anova considering every measurement date separately shows a higly significant effect of species and moisture (and partly the interaction of both). The mixed-effects model with species and moisture shows a highly significant effect of species and moisture as w...

Object Property Sorting - Hash?

Here is an example object similar to the one I want to sort: var foodsByLetter = { ''B'': [''broccoli'', ''bread''], ''C'': [''carrots'', ''celery''], ''A'': [''alfalfa sprouts'', ''apple''] }; Then I want to sort by the object''s keys so I can create a nested list: <ul> <li>A<ul><li>alfalfa sprouts</li><li>apple</li></ul></li> <li>B<ul><li>broccoli</li><...

In a small scale trial five seeds are treated with fungicide and five seeds are untreated with fungicide. Seeds were then planted and the number was counted . If four plants actually sprouted what is the probability that a) all four plants emerged form the treated seeds. b)Three of few emerged from the treated seeds Regards Malcolm [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

GPFS and Windows file attributes
...s to me that 3.5.9 might have a bug fix for me. At least I see in the release notes I see BUG 8016: Fix gpfs_get_xattr, though I am not entirely sure how this would effect the failure to set it. I also took a look at Samba 3.6.0 and first off noticed that the vfs_gpfs manual page seems to have sprouted more information. I tried adding in gpfs:winattr = yes to smb.conf and restarting ctdb on all the nodes but this made no difference. I also notice that in 3.6.0 the GPFS module seems to have sprouted a hsm feature to report offline status of HSM'ed files back to the windows client based...

DreamHost and "froo handler"
...just started using DreamHost, and http://rtest.openprofile.net is the first Rails site I put there. I read the information in their wiki about setup, since I hadn''t used Rails with Apache before, and dutifully added the recommended "froo handler" to dispatch.fcgi. Bad idea. I sprouted endless dispatch.fcgi processes, and had to kill off a handful every hour or two. I tried various things, none of which worked, and finally tried taking the routine out. Voila, it''s all fixed. One copy of dispatch.fcgi running, good response time, and I''m much happier. I gu...

ltsp kernel crash
Hi, I've been using pxe-enabled nic's with an lzpxe-etherboot image generated by rom-o-matic.net to boot a ltsp.org kernel, with dhcp 3 to use if statements to determine which filename option he gives to the pxe/etherboot dhcp client.Explained at http://www.ltsp.org/documentation/pxe.howto.html This works perfectly, except for the fact that you can't use 1 etherboot pxe image for

It wasn?t a huge surprise. systemd was in Fedora since f15, and RHEL7 was branched from f18 (iirc). systemd was in the RHEL7.0 beta. The release announcement was filled with information about systemd.[1] Frankly, I was more surprised about XFS and 64-bit-only than systemd. I believe that R...
