Machines joined to a domain can't access shares on standalone Samba server
Greetings. I updated and old server to run Samba 4.9, It was running a
distribution that still supported Samba 3.x. That Samba server has always
been standalone, there is no interest in joining it to the Windows AD
domain already in place.
When it was running on Samba 3, users from a Windows domain joined machine,
users were able to use the defined user on the Samba server to access the
share.

barrier and commit options?
Hello,
On my home server (Debian etch, custom 2.6.28.2 kernel), I am using ext3
for both root and /home filesystems, with barriers enabled to prevent
corruption caused by my PATA disk write cache.
Looking for a better performance, I have also set the commit=nr option
as described in linux-2.6.28.2/Documentation/filesystems/ext3.txt, so
that I now have:

11TB ext4 filesystem - filesystem alternatives?
Hi All.
I have a CentOS server:
CentOS 5.6 x86_64
2.6.18-238.12.1.el5.centos.plus
e4fsprogs-1.41.12-2.el5.x86_64
which has a 11TB ext4 filesystem. I have problems with running fsck on it
and would like to change the filesystem because I do not like the
possibility of running long fsck on it, it's a production machine. Also I
have some problems with running fsck (not enough RAM, problem with

Before this thread I already had a Firecracker on the server, a fair
assortment of lights and the sprinklers are on an X10Pro Irrigation

Is there any Asterisk controllable thermostat?
I am wondering if there is any such thermostat available which can be
controlled from Asterisk. Like you call your home pbx, dial some extension,
e.g. 333 and it asks to set the temperature, you enter a temperature, and it
sets the thermostat to that temperature. This thermostat will be very
useful, e.g. when you're coming back home after a few days and now its
snowing and you want home to be
