linear gradient in nls
...a statistics question but here I go. I am using the nls function with a Gaussian distribution, see coding below. When I run the nls I get an error back saying that I have a linear gradient. I then, of course am unable to do anything else. The data that I am using are intensity values from some mass spectrometry data. Is there something I can do to stop the linear gradient, and I dare to ask why am I getting a linear gradient. I apologies if I haven't supplied enough information or I have made some mistake in my coding. The coding below works on some of the data but not all. Thank you f...

data type for block data?
...ect...... > index [1] "10" "40" Is there a way to take cc[i:index[i-1],] to another format as to where each block could be worked on separately. ie so in one block would be rows1:10 the next block would be rows11:40 and so on. ...ke to check A and B by these columns. If I find that the number in A[9,x] and B[9, x] are the same then I want to remove the row that it is comparing from A. So overall, if something appears in B then I remove it from A. Cheers, Paul Research Technician Mass Spectrometry o The / o Scripps \ o Research / o Institute [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Chemoinformatic people
Dear colleague, Just an e-mail to know if they are people working in the field of chemoinformatic that are using R in their work. If yes I was wondering if we couldn't exchange tips and tricks about the use of R in this area ? Best regards Fred Ooms [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Time plots
...lt;- data B 100 400 200 100 C 500 400 200 1000 ^ | samples I would like to plot these however, all I get is a very messed up plot. It may be due to the size of the matrix, it is 7746 rows long. But I thought for R that shouldn't make a difference. Cheers, Paul Research Technician Mass Spectrometry ? o The ? / o Scripps ? \ ? o Research ? / o Institute

Hello, I'm doing some scripting and I've noticed that R doesn't seem to have an if (cond){ do }ifelse (cond) { do } else { do } type block. Is this correct or am I missing something. THX Paul -- Research Technician Mass Spectrometry o The / o Scripps \ o Research / o Institute

...r to be functional ? and to act in a variety of regulatory roles within the cell. The successful applicant will join a highly interdisciplinary team comprising numerical- and biological-scientists who together exploit the power of new technologies such as single-cell RNA sequencing and protein mass spectrometry to investigate the fundamentals of gene expression in cancer. This project will involve applying machine learning and pattern recognition techniques to high volumes of RNA-sequencing data representing a combination of single cells, clinical samples, and experimental data generated using cell lines....

negative number to positive number

This is in a function so it's not just -5 it's x. :) Thanks, Paul -- Research Technician Mass Spectrometry o The / o Scripps \ o Research / o Institute
