AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
...I've tried AACPlus 32kb/s mono and there is very little difference from
stereo as far as sound quality goes.
Anyway, I've set up a mono AAC+ stream at 32kb/s for. It's strange that
Winamp reports it as stereo but the selection in the the shoutcast DSP
is mono.
Vorbis q -2 http://soulfm.stationplaylist.com/listen.m3u
AAC+ 32kb/s http://stream.gottabelieve.org:9000/soulfm.aac.m3u
I think the treble is much more natural with AAC.
Happy comparisons.
Ross.

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
I should have provided a link to my low bitrate vorbis stream. It's a
mostly easy listening world music format:

It shows this correctly in Winamp on the broadcast PC.
On the Icecast Status page, it says the Current Song is:
M?e Brennan - I L?air D?
Listening to the stream (as a listener) in Winamp, it shows this as the
title:

...at anything below
112k. Whereas 28k AAC+ sounds pretty good in hifi stereo, and this
bitrate means it's available to dial-up internet users.
Here is my 28k AAC+ world music stream if you are interested. It requires
Winamp v5 or Foobar2000 or XMPlay or Screamer or VLC for Mac/Linux

Virgin Radio Classic Rock now in Ogg too
Firstly, please excuse the crosspost to both the icecast and vorbis lists,
and the slightly commercial nature of this post.
Virgin Radio Classic Rock, which is a sister station to Virgin Radio, is now
also available in streaming Ogg Vorbis. We also have 'now playing'
information working on both services.

ReplayGain support for Vorbis
Hello all,
I'm glad to announce to you that Vorbis now has full
ReplayGain support. If you're not familiar with ReplayGain,
take a look at www.replaygain.org. The main features are:
a) all songs play back with equal loudness
b) removes the need for normalization
c) allows for clipping prevention
Using it is very simple. Get a compatible decoder (ogg123,
XMMS and WinAmp all support it

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
I can understand wanting to boost the adoption of Xiph codecs, but I think restricting the directory to vorbis streams only will not help this endeavour. I can imagine it will just piss a lot of people, including myself, and give Xiph a bad name.
I get very few listeners of my AAC+ stream now since this occured. The restriction is not an insentive to switch to Ogg Vorbis at all. The incentive
