Difficulty w/1.0 and Sonique/Winamp
I am very excited to see the Vorbis 1.0 out. Unfortunately, neither Sonique 1.808a nor Winamp 2.5 is willing to play the resulting files. Only silence. I tried the simple case of 'oggenc track1.wav' and it created the expected track1.ogg, 3.5MB in size with avg. bitrate of 110kbps at default quality 3. These applications worked fine with a much older version of...

Greetings: If you're using the latest XMMS (CVS preferably), FreeAmp, Sonique (?), or ogg123 (maybe), please check out this URL for a Vorbis playlist stream: http://64.108.112.34:8000/shouter.ogg The playlist is lengthy, and I've set it to repeat three times, so it will be on-line for a while. Please let me know how well or badly the stream was received, th...

...ity of my mp3's is okay. I know that music match shreds the mp3 data and produces mp3 files that are not ISO compliant. I always use WaveLab and the radium codec to encode my sets and enable the ISO compatibility option at all times. This problem only seemed to come about with winamp 2.7 but if sonique is doing it to, I don't know... What about relaying? Do streams get dropped in a similar manner in relay setup? If so then it would be network code or the network itself related. All of my test were done over the lan or locally on the same box using a duplicate instance of winamp to tune into...

...xed a link-crossing bug in libvorbis (total time was reset to -1 at the link boundary until the next packet with a frame number arrived) Implemented instantaneous bitrate capability in libvorbis; added ov_bitrate_instant() to interface. I know I talked about a different interface to this with the Sonique folks a few months ago... I couldn't remember exactly what we'd hammered out (but I do remember it involved overloading the ov_bitrate interface) so I just added a new call. Added instantaneous bitrate display to the XMMS plugin; Mike or Peter, could you verify that I didn't do this s...

Winamp icecast streaming broken?
...file or stream fine, buffers a bit, and starts playing... but then it plays out the buffer without refilling it as it's playing, so it has to pause, fill the buffer again, play the buffer, pause, etc. (Does that make sense?) So the winamp client suffers from interruptions constantly. xmms and Sonique latest versions work fine against the same servers. Also, Winamp seems to play the stream too fast, actually at about 2x the normal speed. Is this a known problem? Any fixes for anything mentioned here? I would appreciate it. Tired of everyone having Winamp and not being able to listen in to...

Looking for a client to feed Icecast
Would like to use a Windows client with a line-in processor to feed an icecast server. Have tried Winamp, but could not get the plugin recommended in this forum to work. Looked at the Sonique site, and could not find plugins that would do line-in and server out. Any recommendataions? winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
I've searched the archives on xiph and elsewhere in hopes of finding an answer on whether song titles will work. There seems to be no definitive answer. use_meta_data 1 DOES work for WinAmp 2.75 but nothing else I've tried (which includes the latest WinAmp and Sonique). Also, I can get some header by telnetting into my port (see below) but still the "meta_data" issue remains a mystery. If there is in fact a definitive answer on this, please by all means FAQ or RTFM me senseless. Even if there's no gratifying definitive answer, comments on "i...

Response to Ogg Vorbis comments
...(players that can pull an MP3 stream) are using > Vorbis? I have used it a couple of times for testing and was > impressed by the results. Does Winamp have Vorbis decode built-in? Winamp just put the finishing touches on their own vorbis plugin, and we expect it to ship in the next version. Sonique has already had Vorbis for some time (millions of installed sonique players are vorbis capable). On the Mac platform, Audio, Unsanity Echo, and Macast are all vorbis capable. On linux, pretty much everything is already Vorbis capable. That really leaves Quicktime, RealPlayer, and Windows Media...

I'm running icecast 1.3.10 on FreeBSD 3.5-Stable, and my source is Winamp 2.72 w/ Shoutcast DSP 1.8.0. If you tune in with winamp, sonique, or some other client that doesn't support x-audiocast, does it show the song titles? I'll send you my icecast config file via email (sans passwords.. ;) ) and you can look through it and see if anything odd is sticking out. -Asym -------signature file------- PGP Key Fingerprint: 446...

x-audiocast etc.
...memory until it would tank around 200M or so (in a box with 256) if left running a few days, and got some general questions for anyone in-the-know. ;) 1. Is there a definitive list of what players on what platforms support the x-audiocast headers? On windows I've tried winamp, freeamp, and sonique.. none of them display the currently playing song title, although icecast is getting it just fine. Sonique even displayes the "Genre" header correctly.. just not the song title. I'm sourcing from winamp 2.72, Shoutcast Source DSP 1.8.0. 2. Is the icy header hack for song title...
