folders via softlink
...e shared spam folder (messages that are only "spam to them" would go into their own spam folder). sa-learn is then run nightly for each user against both the shared spam folder and their personal spam folder. The shared spam folder is simply a file that everyone has rwx access to and is softlinked to ~/mail/SharedSpam. This used to work fine with UW imap because it didn't seem to care that this was a softlink. However, apparently Dovecot DOES care because when the user resets their folder list and the user selects the folder and chooses "show", they get the error message: C...

Softlinking to a dvd-drive with inconsistent mount points?
In Suse 9.2, it was easy to softlink to a drive from /home/username/.wine/dosdevices because the mount point for the drive was always the same. That is, /media/dvdrecorder was always where the disc would get mounted. NOW, with Suse 9.3, the mount point is /media/DISC_NAME. Since each disk has a different name, there is never a consistent mount point. So, I can't make Wine's

[PATCH] virtio-pci: add softlinks between virtio and pci
We sometimes need to map between the virtio device and the given pci device. One such use is OS installer that gets the boot pci device from BIOS and needs to find the relevant block device. Since it can't, installation fails. Supply softlinks between these to make it possible. Signed-off-by: Michael S. Tsirkin <mst at redhat.com> --- Gleb, could you please ack that this patch below

wide softlink to different partition copy fails
Hi All, (I've also posted this to the CentOS forum - so copy and pasted for simplicity) I'm having an unusual issue with Samba server package 3.6.9-164.el6 When sharing out a directory containing a soft symlink pointing to a directory outside of the share and a different filesystem/block device. When a client mounts the partition (Linux and Mac OSX Clients tested) and attempts to copy a

mulit user system redirecting My Documents
New to wine here. I installed wine, my application is working. I allow all users to access "/usr/wine/.wine", I want to redirect "/usr/wine/.wine/fake_windows/My Documents" to a $HOME/My Documents. Is there a way I can do this? Is it as simple as adding a reg key? Therefore when a user executes the windows app, and browses to "My Documents" they see a folder in

Problem with softlinks under samba on RHEL
Hello all Samba enthusiasts. I am a noob w.r.t. samba configuration and just happened to use it on Solaris systems by creating conf files using copy-paste :-). This is just to convey that I'm no advanced user and might need help with the solutions / alternatives to come. Some background => Here is my smb.conf: === [global] workgroup = <company domain> server string = Samba

Backup
Hello All, I am setting up a samba backup UNIX box. It will periodically login onto a windoze box(with smbclient), pickup the files, and save them. The problem is that I couldn't make any error correction in case of power blackout or anything similar. That is, while backing up, if I shutdown the WIN machine, one I'm backing up, smbclient goes crazy, giving broken pipe error.

R CMD check issue with soft-linked directory
...s run with a newly created jtest/ directory on yet another drive (partition) to see if there was possibly corruption. However, the issue seems to be one of using a softlink. I would not be upset if R CMD check simply told me that this isn't the right way to do things i.e., don't use the softlinked directory. Does anyone know if this is a recognized issue and is it possible to put some sort of reasonable error message into R CMD check? JN

Random disconnects from Samba server
First, some background. We have a Linux server (CentOS 7.3.1611, Samba 4.4.4, sssd 1.14.0) that is providing access vis SMB to various file systems (home folders on NetApp filer, shared data stored on SwiftStack), and joined to our Active Directory. Clients connecting to it are Windows 7 or 10 (mostly Win10), or OS X Macs running ... El Capitan or Sierra or High Sierra). Our problem is that we

MOH problems
I am trying to music on hold but I am having all sorts of problems with it. I am running RH9 and the latest version of Asterisk as of yesterday. Here is what I did to test it: 1. I manually deleted the mpg123 softlink to mpg321. 2. I downloaded mpg123-0.59r-1.n0i.src.rpm, compiled and installed the the archive and loaded ztdummy.o module. 3. I threw a couple extra files in the mohmp3 directory

Complete newbie seeks start . . .
Hi .. I've just received in the post my Wildcard card with a single FXO and three FXS daughter cards. I've identified a dedicated PC to function as the * machine and installed the card. I've installed Fedora Core 2 on that machine. I've downloaded the * software and the zaptel drivers. And now, to be quite honest, I haven't got much of a clue what to do next! I've

R 2.1.1 installation fails under Suse 10.0 (PR#8533)
Full_Name: Sigbert Klinke Version: 2.1.1 OS: Suse Linux 10.0 (Full DVD) Submission from: (NULL) (141.20.100.252) Suse 10.0 installs only a Fortran 95 compiler with g77 compability mode. Using this leads in "configure" to an abortion with problems about "FPICFLAGS". Deinstalling g77 compatiblity mode, using f2c, compiles R. But after calling R() the program shows its entrance

Upgrade to 2.3.1 has failed
Andy, This is just rude. You have been told multiple times that the less-than symbol is required to read the certificate from the file. Otherwise, the filename is parsed as if it is the certificate itself. Which yields garbage. If dovecot can't read that file, it is *not* dovecot's fault. You are simply not going to succeed until *you* figure out what security differences you have in
