Password Error
I'm new to Samba software. I just installed Samba on my Sun Sparcstation 20 running Solaris 2.5. I read the DIAGNOSIS.txt file, but in this case, it didn't helped me. When I tried to login in from the PC to the unix machine by typing "net use x: \\BIGSERVER\TMP", it prompted me for the password, so I typed in the unix password (I guess?), but an error message returned -

my notes on bond, bridge, network, kvm, host and virtual so far
I put this page together just so I won't spam the board anymore begging for help..lol http://bobhoffman.com/vmissue.html This shows a working effort of bonded eths, bridged into a vm, and a few other things. The only missing thing is something on the host that ends up putting the VM internet connection into some kind of limbo. Whether it is hardware related, bug related, libvirt nat

xen remote console and multiple admins
Hello, I''m enjoying my Xen quest very much thus far. Q: How does one handle the situation of multiple root users on dom0 trying to `xm console'' to the same guest? I was unable to use the virtual console at all until I added a line to inittab for agetty to spawn on xvc0. Now I''m not sure of an elegant solution for supporting multiple consoles (possible?), or even

CentOS Stream suitability as a production webserver
Le 06/01/2021 ? 08:06, Gordon Messmer a ?crit?: > Are you describing an actual problem, right now, or is that an invented example? No, this was an actual problem I had back in April 2020. Upgrading from CR broke imagemagick, so I couldn't use the corresponding PHP modules, so my Roundcube installation was broken for a few weeks. One of the things I like about Oracle Linux is that they

Vorbis vs Speex
Hi, I have downloaded Vorbis and played with it, and I have downloaded Speex but not yet played with it. My understanding is that Vorbis is targetted at high-quality audio (music) while Speex is targetted at speech quality audio (telephoney and such). So I have two questions to ask the group: 1. Which would your experiences show is the better codec for recording high quality speech such

Sieve filter script EXECUTION FAILED
So, I have the sieve working up to the point that it calls the script, and the script is called (I get different errors if the script is not there, for example). filter action execute program `darkmode.sh' [[EXECUTION ABORTED]] There's no other error logged (for example, when I had sieve_filter_bin_dir miss-set, I would get: sieve: action filter: failed to execute program

A couple of questions
Hi guys, First of all, thanks for your great work. So many people *need* Samba to work...! I have a couple of questions about Samba. I have been fiddeling with Samba config files for some time now (as well as reading documentation about it), and... there must be something I am missing. The network I am managing has a very, very standard configuration. It's a C class (netmask:

another Icecast2/Vorbis test stream
Greetings: Yes, I've placed another test stream on-line. Thanks to the feedback from members of this list, I've taken a few extra steps. 1) According to DSLReports, my uplink today is 137 kbps. It may actually be a little faster, they say that Netscape's reporting is skewed (and I use Netscape). 2) Thus, I've prepared a set of Ogg files encoded with -b 24 to fit my

Templates and arrays
I''m in the process of documenting templates right now, and I figured I should see what happens when you use them with arrays: $ cat ~/bin/test.pp $values = [this, is, an, array, of, values] $content = template("/tmp/templates/testing.erb") file { "/tmp/temtest": content => $content } $ cat /tmp/templates/testing.erb <% values.each do |val| %> I got

Up to date packages for puppet
I was wondering if there would be any benefit to the general community if I made available a debian and ubuntu repository of up to date puppet packages. I have the infrastructure in place anyway for my work (pbuilder + falcon), and can quite easily run up a vhost on a VM somewhere. Debian Etch (4.0) for example has puppet 0.20.1, and will never get a newer version. Ubuntu Feisty has a newer
