Re: Paging using multiple sound cards
...2 output-only channels from a single stereo sound card. Maybe I'm wrong? Also - For another scenerio, I'd like to know if anyone has the MOH music playing full time, for both Asterisk and outputting to the sound card, so I can use the same music for a hardware PBX? I was thinking using a Slimserver might be the answer, but if the music is already set up in Asterisk, why not have it output it as well. Efficiency
...; http://web.inter.nl.net/users/hvdh/lossless/lossless.htm Thank you for the link. Although I switched to flac for other reasons, these data appear to support my switch, given the hardware limitations I have. As I mentioned, I use a 400 mhz laptop in my office, and at home a qnap ts-101 running slimserver software. While quite usable, neither is exactly a processing powerhouse. So it appears that flac is an easy choice for me. Thanks again. -- Chris

xen xm list: DomUs blocked
Hi I''m using Xen on my AMD64 / Ubuntu 7.10 server which I recently upgraded, and my 2 VMs are decidedly flaky. They seem to be blocked for most of the time, and networking doesn''t work properly. How can I debug this and get them online reliably? Any tips gratefully received! * I can log in via console or ssh, can ping the server''s NICs but can''t ping the

slim server for moh
Hello, I have installed SlimServer for Windows on my desktop and Asterisk on a Red Hat Linux machine. I am able to play mp3's for music on hold when mp3s are on the Linux server, and to play streaming mp3's with Windows Media Player and Winamp on Windows using the slim server. I also have mpg123 on my Linux, apparently ins...

MOH Server
Has anyone managed to set up a moh server for Asterisk? Reason would be to offload processing off the asterisk box, onto another system. The wiki is a bit light on details. If anyone managed to get it up and working, what software did you use on the server side, and what client app did you use? Mpg123? Mpg321? Madplayer? Something else? Also, putting legal ramifications aside, it'd be nifty

RE: Converting to 1.1.4, help please!
My FLAC files reside on my Infrant NV (XRAID) and are also backed up on my PC and on an external USB HDD. That makes 3 copies. I've read most everything on the FLAC site, but as I have mentioned I don't know much about structuring a command line. My PC is also quite old (early P4 from 2000 w/256MB RAM) so I think it will take a LOT of time for this to run through over 1200 CDs worth of

...ittle differences in their situation that makes a general solution hard. this list is not really the place for shell tutorial, I highly recommend this book: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/bash3/ and if you're on windows, install http://cygwin.com/ otherwise, I think this comes up a lot on the slimserver forums and people have posted other solutions. as for that bug that required the test step first, that was fixed in flac-1.1.4; especially if you already have a backup, I wouldn't worry about the extra test step. --- Tim <ht_nut@earthlink.net> wrote: > My FLAC files reside on my Inf...

MoH does not de-attach
...de-attach" itself from the call, so both the customer and ext. 300 on the old PBX CONTINUES to hear the MusicOnHold on the background, not being able to mute it. As you may imagine, this is somewhat annoying. We have tried with different MoH setup: initially using mpg123 player, and now using slimserver, but it keeps happening. Any clue whats going on? Thanks for your advice. Regards.

Efficiency
Hi list users, Is there a comparison somewhere of the efficiency of decoding flac files, with respect to some benchmark related to cpu processing? As compared to, say, ape files? I ask because I have recently switched my entire archive from ape to flac. I have an old 400 mhz laptop in my office running xubuntu, which I run into a receiver. Works great. Since switching to flac, I notice the

Indices and totals
Hi all! I've read http://reactor-core.org/ogg-tagging.html and http://www.vorbis.com/ot/20030303.html#id2726753 about the goals and non-goals of vorbis comments, but I'm still unsure: 1) Is it by purpose to forget about CDA's index feature because it's so rarely used or did nobody here ever thought about it? -> Add an INDEXNUMER field? 2) If "Vorbis comments are the

Indexed FLAC file?
Hi all, I have a very large music collection that I keep on a portable hard drive (to plug in to car USB, carry with when I'm at my office, etc). All but a few dozen files are part of an album, and not a single audio file. This translates to an insane amount of files stored on my hard drive. I am very strict about how I label and file my media (I loathe unlabeled audio tracks), but

My Boss wants background music!!!!
Dear Members, I am searching for a new PBX for the company. My choice is Astrisk. My Boss wants background music via all the telephones. This is done in a conventional PBX that he wants, but I can use the Asterisk PBX if it can do this also. As I said he needs background music on every telephone this is not to be mistaken with music on hold. The bit stream is an MP3 file of 8 Kbs. At the server

Macbook for Rails Development
Hi All, I''ve finally got fed up of struggling with Windows and am on the verge of splashing out on a Macbook for Ruby/Rails development. I''ve seen DHH''s post about it on loudthinking but I wondered if anyone else has any more wisdom... Is it worth it over a powerbook? Any tips on good OSX apps for Rails dev (textmate, i know already)? Anything not working well on
