help with bonobo
This morning I am getting a message on my screen that:
There was a problem registering the panel with the bonobo-activation
server error code is 1
It further suggests run bonobo-slay to perhaps take care of the situation.
When I run bonobo-slay it says:
bonobo-slay
Can not open directory /usr/lib/bonobo/servers
No such file or directory
What do I do now?
Thanks,
Jerry

regular expressions slay me
I am furiously trying to find what I am looking for in Pickaxe book and
not finding it.
I''m getting some values back from a posted form and I need to get the
''id'' number off the backend. The ''String'' will always come back to me
as...
Some_name\r\n123
where 123 is actually the id number which I need to execute the find.

The perils of GMAX
gmax won't start up after the initial time. The messages I am getting indicate that it has become case sensitive with respect to names. The installer put in a directory named 'stdplugs' but the program wanted it to be 'StdPlugs'. So I renamed it. It still says these libraries fail to initialize. I must be missing a windows module but I did put in the recommended winetricks

FreeNX : forward audio from server to client ?
Hi,
I setup a FreeNX server with a GNOME desktop, and I can access it from a
client with the NoMachine client. Everything is running fine, and now I
only have two problems left : audio and printing forwarding. I'll follow
the "only-slay-one-dragon-at-a-time" rule and take care of audio first.
Did anyone manage to forward sound with FreeNX ? Here, server and client
are using CentOS. And yes, I did check the little "enable multimedia"
checkbox on the client, but to no avail. Whenever I play a sound in the
client s...

a patch. Since there is a delay in getting CVS moved over to
Xiph, go ahead and check it in. Take care to 'cvs update' first
before committing since I had to change a bunch of licensing text
everywhere, and also I will be applying Miroslav's patches.
Thanks a lot, hope this will slay the xmms plugin problems once
and for all...

time command with options
I am trying to get timing paramters from a CGI program.
date is just a command for example used here.
when I do: time { date; }
everything is good.
when I do: time -o file { date; }
I get
time -o file { date; }
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `}'
How do I correctly issue the command with an option
for -o file to output the data to a file.
Thanks,
Jerry

Is Centos 5.5 too old fro Google Chrome?
I tried to install Google Chrome and received the dependencies
error. Is Centos too old for the new Chrome or is there an older
Chrome version that is compatible?

Feature request: usernames and passwords
A relatively recent development that spammers got wind of is users that
have username==password, with/without the domain.
I am tracking numerous 1-off attempts from bots to gain access to
mailboxes this way.
Situation isn't made any better if you're also using dovecot as SMTP
AUTH provider for I am ashamed to admit I've relayed some spam that way.
Would it be possible to deny login

I am sure that single X server will not work here. Each xserver is
owned by different user. I organized it in this way so that command
"slay yade" will not interfere with my other working X sessions.
I have only one graphics card in my computer, it has three
DisplayPort outputs, and they are connected to my three LCD screens.

New User Problems
I''m trying to try out puppet and can''t seem to get to square one. I''ve
been using cfengine for years and have just upgraded about 80 Debian
machines to etch and wanted to try puppet.
So, I have two Debian ''etch'' machines one a server and the other a client.
I''m running puppet 0.23.2 installed from the unstable packages. As a first

non-PIC code in shared libs again
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=179434
In order to fix this for Debian, I changed things around to build the .a
libraries as libtool convenience libraries; this takes care of PIC and they
can be portably linked into shared libraries (I believe libtool would
complain about this otherwise).
Josh, how would you feel about me merging these changes into flac CVS?

SFQ with Per Flow Caps
I''d like to implement something like SFQ, but with a cap of a rate per
flow. Essentially, I''d like to be able to limit citrix connections to
30KBps without having an overall traffic flow cap for all citrix
connections. Slightly preferable to this would be something that would
actually work per flow instead of the stochastic algorithm.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
Bill

There are dragons out there, working against you, limiting
and damaging your success. Don't pretend they don't exist.
Don't deny them. Don't say they don't matter. Don't run

Be BRAVE and acknowledge their existence, and then run up to
them and SLAY THEM WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH!!!
That is how the most successful people become successful.
They confirm the existence of their dragons, and they
confirm that they are harmful, and then they deliver
crushing blows until the dragons are defeated.
Whereas a weak or insecure person is scared and run...

Document Scanning and Storage
I'd like to start scanning our boxed up documents. I'd say about 30,000
files total.
Mostly to eliminate the boxes of paper we have.
I'd like to scan them, store them, Have some sort of index, and be able to
retrieve them on multiple machines. I think PDF would be the desired format.
I'd like be able to set some permissions as well. (not a deal breaker...)
