AT&T Researchers and the New York Times
Is anyone in the leadership of the R-project going to contact the New York Times and clarify that the article gave remarkably short shrift to the people who designed the user interface for R, to a large extent AT&T researchers from an earlier generation? It would be the appropriate thing to do. The R team did not develop the user interface for R, the designers of the S programming language did. The layman reader of Vance's ar...

[LLVMdev] LLVM MinGW binaries on Vista issue
> Below are a few comments. Apologies in advance for the nit-picky > nature of some of them. Updated version attached with all your feedback, and others, hopefully fixed. No applogies needed, attention to the details is always great. How often does documentation get the short shrift that we would never think of giving to code ;) Jon -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... how to connect S-Plus to Matlab?
Hi all, I am playing around with the S-Plus ... and I am wondering how to connect it back and forth with Matlab? For example, how do I call S-Plus from within Matlab and how do I call Matlab from within S-Plus? How do I transfer data back and forth? Thanks a lot

Fping-appreciate some help please
...tle-I have a specific app I use for network testing called Fping http://www.kwakkelflap.com/fping.html. It all works in WIndows but I'm trying to make the cross-over into Linux and this is a tool I use on a daily basis, hence the need to make it work I did ask on the Ubuntu forums but got short shrift, being told I should use the built in PING tool-fair comment but this app has a few more things in it-and besides, I just *like* it! ;-) Doing some research, it seems something to do with the hook into Winsock? I have tried WINE but all I get is a "file not found", when the file is clearl...

SELinux - way of the future or good idea but !!!
Hi, total newbie on CentOS. Just firing up an install of 5.5 on a development webserver. Installed Webmin, Awstats, PHPMyAdmin and Drupal successfully. Yet to work on Sendmail and Samba. SELinux in enforcing mode, reporting "SELinux preventing ifconfig (ifconfig_t) "read write" to /var/webminsessiondb.pag (var_t)". Googled the error message without real success in finding fix
