how about the global data when multiple backgroundrbs ?
...achines,
global data should not be there.
So global data in RailsApp as Global Variables? But how about RailsApp
also running in 2+ servers ?
It seems the possible ways to store global data is db or network file
system ?
Hope for suggestions, thanks.

Is there some error in the way the server is setup, so that the client
aborts, or is this a bug?
Thanks

X11 forwarding does not work as normal user
...rwarding yes
In ssh_config, we changed the following two lines to read:
ForwardAgent yes
ForwardX11 yes
Both files are set to permission readable to all.
The X11 forwarding works fine if we logged as super user, but does not work
for normal users. What is the problem?
Thanks,
Ziying Sherwin

backgroundrb scalability
i''m in a team that is currently developing a web 2.0 application that really
needs to scale in the very near future.
we are using backgroundrb for some of the server tasks.
currently, we have two servers (in RubyOnRails) that connects to a single
backgroundrb daemon.
is there a way that we can run multiple backgroundrb and have the servers do
a round robin on them to retrieve a worker

Bad NICs
...an old 486 then use this to serve an office full
of brand new PIIs running WNT.
Why the performance figures for the 3c509 were so much better I haven't a
clue, unless the fact that it was an ISA card slowed the data rate
sufficiently to minimise the windowing problem?
Best regards, Paul

HP LJ6 prints blank page at end of W95 print job
...to get the same problem using an old HP DJ540.
As HP LJ6s are so common, lots of other people _must_ have experienced this
problem - come on folks, how did you fix it?
I'd be grateful if you could copy any suggestions to me directly, in case I
miss them in the list.
Best regards, Paul

smbprint(ing) to an HP 3100??
...nux print request is crashing the W98 system - it
suggests it is hitting something strange in the HP printer driver which is
_extremely_ complex for the HP integrated
print/fax/copy/scanner/modem/toaster stuff. Maybe you could write a
ghostscript driver for the HP3100? :->
Good luck, Paul

guest access and printer serving
Hello!
I have a Linux box that has a HP LaserJet 5L printer connected to it
and Samba (2.0.3) providing a print service for Win95 clients
connected to the LAN. How can I make Samba NOT ask for a password
whatsoever when a Win95 client connects to the print service?
I also have a printing related problem: when I print something from a
Win95 client it comes out fine, but I always get an extra

Win95, sharing printers and drives
I have two computers ROLAND (RedHat 5.2 and Samba) and LINDA

I am already able to print on the printer connacted to LINDA. Yesterday,
before I managed to get the printer working, I was alos able to see
ROLAND's directory 'tmp' and 'winD' on LINDA.
The problem that I saw this morning was that the printing still works
but LINDA can no longer see the shares of

SWAT issue
I have had a RH5.2 server running Samba up for a long time. I upgraded to
Mandrake 6.0. It broke Samba, so I reinstalled using the RPM on the CD.
Samba works just fine, but SWAT will not! If I try to start it manually
(/usr/sbin/swat) it just hangs.
In /etc/services I have a line like this:
swat 901/tcp
In /etc/inetd.conf I have:
swat stream tcp nowait.400 root
