Centos 6.2, sheduled tasks (cron)
Hi all,
I wanted to schedule some rsync backups and found that CentOS is by
default using anacron.
I'm mostly used with the historical cron, but let's follow the progress :-)
- I made a shell script in /etc/cron.daily/dobackup
- I made it 755, root.root.
- In /etc/anacrontab, START_HOURS_RANGE=21-23 (I kept the other lines
unchanged)
- When I manually run /etc/cron.daily/dobackup, it

Newb question: tc shedulers on 2 interfaces
Hi all! I''m new to this list, and hope for some clarity in this matter:
I have a home-gateway with linux-2.6.9 and iproute2 (ver:2.6.9). My
following tc syntaxes.
# eth0 internet scheduleing are:
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 20
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 512kbit burst 6k
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 512kbit burst

describe scope
Hi,
Googling ''RSpec describe scope'' didn''t yield much, so apologies if
this question has been dealt with.
It seem well known that a ruby class is ''visible'' between describes,
and if this is a problem then you should use some counter as prefix or
suffix:
''class Item_001; ... end''
Is there any work underway, or sheduled release where

Pulse #0902
Hi all,
I have started working on the next Pulse issue #0902 and therefor
copied the template to the Editing section.
I would like to contribute the following articles:
A short introduction of the Artwork SIG
Getting started with Multimedia on CentOS
Also I would suggest to create a monthly newsletter instead of
bi-weekly, as we are all very busy, I guess ;)
It would be great if ppl like Russ

New hardware
Hi!
I want to upgrade hardware on my router (iptables, htb, >1000 users).
Now it is
based on usual desktop PC (Intel Prescott P4 3.00 Ghz, 1 Gb RAM). The
reason of hardware upgrade is growing up number of users, also we are
planning to increase upstream link from 100 Mbit/s to 1 Gbit/s.
Iptables rules are now optimized with ipset tool, for tc I''m using
hash tables as well. So I

Tip: update dovecot MD5 password from PAM
It is a jolly bad idea to use the same password for both email and system access.
On TLS+plaintext, if your passwords are slurped by a python script, all accounts are compromised. Congratulations, the NSA will love you. On the other side of the ocean, however, there are European states where you must disclose the fact, or go to jail.
(I tried to protect dovecot passwords with bcrypt, but the

[PATCH] FLush pending softirqs when cpu offline
Hi, Keir,
Thanks for checking in cpu online/offline support.
Another thought inspired by Kevin, due to the time sequence that
different cpus enter the stop machine context, there is a small window
that some kind of softirqs (say softirq_A) are issued to the dying cpu
right after the dying cpu has already handled softirq_A in do_softirq
before entering stop_machine softirq. So this softirq_A

[LLVMdev] JITCodeEmitter plans
Reid, et.al,
I cannot post the JITCodeEmitter efficiency patch for commital yet as it is
still dependant upon the newer version of the MachineCodeEmitter being
submitted, when it is replaced by the ObjectCodeEmitter. Anyway I have
attached the code for you to look at. It is also a endian speedup patch for
included. The ObjectCodeEmitter patch should hopefully go in this weekend.

Ogg Vorbis use in the Visual Basic .net environment
Heya everyone,
I'm planning on putting functionality into a Visual Basic program to be able
to play back Ogg Vorbis encoded multimedia files and I'm having difficulty
finding out how. Would anyone have any ideas on how I could do this? Perhaps
if I were able to use the Ogg Vorbis libraries as a .dll file and call its
functions from within the VB program - that might work. So does anyone

FOSDEM16: Graphics DevRoom: call for speakers.
Hi,
At FOSDEM on sunday 31st of january 2016, there will be another graphics
DevRoom. URL: https://fosdem.org/2016/
At first, I wanted to skip another year (like in 2011), as speaker
turn-out was disgracefully low last year. But when i heard from some
usual speaker suspects earlier this month (the first time anyone asked
me about a FOSDEM16 devroom btw), followed by the fact that the devroom

Usage of "schedule"
Hello,
I''m newbie for puppet.
I would appreciate someone tells me how to use "shedule".
What I want to do is puppet client( puppetd ) tries to syncronize /etc/
hosts permission as 644, and puppetd tries to check every 3 minutes.
( I know 3 min is so quick, this is just a test of "schedule")
So I wrote manifests/site.pp,

[PATCH v2 13/15] drm/amdgpu: Use mmu_range_insert instead of hmm_mirror
From: Jason Gunthorpe <jgg at mellanox.com>
Remove the interval tree in the driver and rely on the tree maintained by
the mmu_notifier for delivering mmu_notifier invalidation callbacks.
For some reason amdgpu has a very complicated arrangement where it tries
to prevent duplicate entries in the interval_tree, this is not necessary,
each amdgpu_bo can be its own stand alone entry.

lvm cache + qemu-kvm stops working after about 20GB of writes
...CPY%Sync) because the cache wants to flush to HDD. But the strange
thing is that after a good sync (0% left), the disk may become slow
again after a few MBs of data. A reboot sometimes helps.
- have tried iothreads, virtio-scsi, vcpu driver setting on virtio-scsi
controller, cachesettings, disk shedulers etc. Nothing helped.

It feels like the lvm cache has a threshold (about 20G of data that is
dirty) and that is stops allowing the qemu-kvm process to use writeback
caching (the root uses inside the host s...

Stable clock with 2.6 and without Digium hardware.
Anybody sucessfully got stable 1000Hz clock without Digium harware and kernel 2.6?
We need to consult some peoples how to clock asterisk stable with exactly 1000 Hz without much kernel/drives patching/tweaking.
Some test results we made so far:
2.6 with digium card - stable 1000 Hz.
2.6 with ztdummy - uses RTC and the clock is 1024, not 1000.
2.6 with some Realtime kernel patch - provides stable
