Using speex!
Just a quick note to let you guys know I've started encoding my church's sermons to Speex format as well as MP3. The audio is recorded off cassette (yuk) onto my PC as a 16kHz 24-bit sample rate stereo WAV in Audacity (the PA system is mono, but sometimes one channel of the tape performs better than the other...). I then trim off the non-sermon bits of the service, normaliz...

New to list -- glennrp
Hello, speexers. I'm new to the list and new to audio compression. I've been asked to look into creating a digital archive of 20-minute speeches (sermons) and speex seems to be what I need. My experience is in image compression; I shepherded gzip, deflate, zlib, and png through the IETF process, put "image/png" through the IANA registration process, and I maintain several projects at SourceForge (libpng, pngcrush, imagemagick, etc.) and c...

Newbie trying to throttle bandwidth
...oing on. I''ll keep going through them to see if something clicks, but meanwhile I was hoping someone might point me in the direction that I should focus my efforts. The server at our church is running Gentoo Linux and has ~500Kbps up/down SDSL connection to the world. We offer online sermons both for RealAudio streaming (16Kbps per stream) and downloading via HTTP. The problem is that someone with a fast pipe of their own (DSL/cable/etc.) can download 1 or more sermons and slurp up all the bandwidth, reducing the RealAudio streams to a trickle and causing lots of "rebuffering...

Question
Hello. I want to use "for". I have a matrix called "mat" that has got 100 rows. I want to take the line 1 and make a1<-which(mat[1,]==1) After this I want to take the second row and make a2<-which(mat[2,]==1) and so on until I arrive at row 100. I want to make it automatic for the 100 rows and so I wrote: for(i in 1:nrow(mat)){ ai<-which(mat[i,]==1) }

Mailbox location
I am running a small server with a fixed number of users. Postfix is using dovecot lda so that I can run pigeonhole. I have setup a user file with the ids and passwords and everything authenticates properly. Postfix uses that also. However, mail is consistently delivered to user at domain. How do I tell it to deliver to just user? I have tried setting a variety of different things like:

Changing dnsmasq DNS settings for virtual machines
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi everyone, maybe this is an old fart, but I cant get it to work. I am running libvirt on a laptop, where a dnsmasq is already running to delegate dns info for my local (not-public) network. My resolv.conf (on the host) lists the system-dnsmasq as first server. I had to set the listen-adress for the system-dnsmasq to 127.0.0.1 and set

Problem with Horde "Mailbox does not support mod-sequences"
Hi list! I already asked about this problem about two years ago, but I couldn't solve my problem... Now I have a new Server, with Debian 8 and Dovecot 2.2.13-12 (from Debian repositories) and Horde 5.2.13. When I delete an E-Mail, I always get the error "Mailbox does not support mod-sequences". It results in having the E-Mail not moved to Trash and I must update more times

acceptable p-level for scientific studies
Dear list members, I have a statistical question, that doesn't belong to this list, and I apologise for that in advance but I would appreciate your help very much. Is there some convention for selecting the a level for significance testing in scientific (e.g. chemical processes) studies? Most people use the 0.05 level but I could not find a reference to justify this. Why not 0.01 or 0.1?

Step-by-Step Tutorial: How to Setup Your Own e-Commerce Online Store using WooCommerce 3.4.5, Wordpress 4.9.8, and CentOS 1805 (LAMP) in Amazon AWS Cloud
Hi Jonathan, Configuring SELinux is somewhat complicated, so I would usually set SELinux mode to permissive. ________________________________ From: CentOS <centos-bounces at centos.org> on behalf of Jonathan Billings <billings at negate.org> Sent: Saturday, September 29, 2018 7:48 PM To: CentOS mailing list Subject: Re: [CentOS] Step-by-Step Tutorial: How to Setup Your Own

Manova for repeated measures
Hi everyone, I'm posting again, since I haven't got an answer (yet :( ). According to R help, manova does not support the inclusion of the Error() term in the formula call. I have repeated measures data for two dependent variables, so this means I can't account for subject variance in time?. Any lights? Thanks in advance, Rodrigo Abt, Department of Economic Studies, SII, Chile.

ogg files with spx and tagging
Dear Developers, I am currently involved in the co-ordination of archiving a whole heap of tapes containing audio (4000+ sermons for www.newcreation.org.au) to digital format. At present, all the tapes have been converted into mp3 @ CBR 40kbs, 44100 Hz... And this appears to play in most portable players capable of playing mp3's. (ogg vorbis isn't that widely supported, and many portable players don't like frequ...
