Specifying random effects distribution in glmer()
...ng to figure out how to carry out a Poisson regression fit to
longitudinal data with a gamma distribution with unknown shape and
scale parameters.
I've tried the 'lmer4' package's glmer() function, which fits the
Poisson regression using:
library('lme4')
fit5<- glmer(seizures ~ time + progabide + timeXprog +
offset(lnPeriod) + (1|id),
data=pdata, nAGQ=1, family=poisson) #note: can't use nAGQ>1, not
yet implemented
summary(fit5)
Here 'seizures' is a count and 'id' is the subject number.
This fit works, but uses the Poisson distribution with...

DCMS specific blockings: "DCMS Out of Service",

This status may also be set for a short time when
performing DIU tests. In that case it prevents
outgoing seizures.

The GP reports the subscriber port with BBAC if a

Ideal Setup for T1/PRI and TE110P - second try
Hi all, I'm sure something similar has been discussed, but one can only
wade through the archives for so long.
I'm setting up a T1 and my telco has a bunch of questions it wants me to
answer. I know much of the TE110p is configurable to do any of this, but
I wanted to know if there is an optimal or preferred setup.
Any help would be appreciated. Here is the quiz my telco is giving me:

i cannot run any type of .exe without it freezing my system entirely- i have to restart it....

Beware: Samba is a hoax
I can only conclude that Samba is an elaborate hoax and here's why.
1) Setup is more complex than Sendmail (it set the standard for complexity)
2) Even the simplest smb.conf causes trouble
3) You can pass ALL the tests in the DIAGNOSIS procedure, AND
Samba will still not let you SHARE FILES or SHARE PRINTERS between Windows
and Unix
but you WILL be able to BROWSE YOUR SHARES (Just pretend

"Provisioned, Down, Active", but D-channel seems to be fine
Hi,
I'm seeing rather odd behaviour on a new box with TE110P card.
I'm running the TE110P span with ccs,hdb3,crc4 in pri_net, connected to a
second machine with a TE410P in pri_cpe.
The span is idle.
I'm using pri intense debug span 1 and can see the RRs going back and
forth.
So - things are running along with the span showing "Provisioned, Up,
Active" in pri show

E&M Wink and T4xxP losing ability to dial
Hey folks,
I'm pulling my hair out on this situation and would welcome some advice:
I'm using the AMI Manager to Originate calls onto 2 E&M wink T1 circuits via
a T4XXP card from Digium.
Everything works fine for about 600(+/- 50) calls then the Manager is
suddenly unable to launch calls. Using ZapBarge to listen to the channels
themselves you can hear the dtmf digits being dialed,

I can almost feel Civilization 3 running
But not quite. If I could just get past the sound, I think it might
start and run.
I'm running Wine in desktop display mode, emulating win98. comdlg32,
shell32, shlwapi, and '*' are set to "native, builtin" while the rest of
the DLLs that the default installation names are builtin, native.
I've tried running it with 'winedbg --gdb civilization3', and it always

Fw: Digium FXO Interfaces don't support groundstart???
A thought occurred to me to on how to further quantify the impact of "glare"
on a properly dimensioned trunk group and debunk the ground start glare
concern. A cursory traffic analysis clarifies:
1. Assume you have a two-way trunk group, dimensioned for average busy
hour, average busy season for P01 grade of service, Erlang B or Poison
distribution.
2. Further assume that the

DAHDI/ZAP overlap dialing
Hi,
I have a PRI euroisdn link between an Alcatel PBX and Asterisk.
I'm having some trouble with overlap dialing.
Suppose I dial '874053' from an Alcatel extension ('7034') where '87' is an Alcatel prefix of type "ARS Prof.Trg Grp Seiz.with overlap".
I'm expecting Asterisk to receive '1004053' (where '100' is a prefix which always shows

GLMM, ML, PQL, lmer
Dear R community,
I have two questions regarding fitting GLMM using maximum likelihood method.
The first one arises from trying repeat an analysis in the Breslow and
Clayton 1993 JASA paper. Model 3 of the epileptic dataset has two random
effects, one subject specific, and one observation specific. Thus if we
count random effects, there are more parameters than observations. When I

CAMA MF signaling for a 911 Trunk
Hi all,
I'm trying to get a handoff between me and a carrier going using Asterisk.
I need to handoff using CAMA signaling. On a Cisco, you can see the
configuration types that I'm referring to on this site as an example:

The example of the interaction is the following:
