I need a document that will walk me (a Samba newbie) through a setup of samba and winbind in a mixed unix/linux/win2k environment. I am also looking for a linux/unix equivalent to 'network neighborhood' on Windows systems for some of my users. Is it possible to allow two Linux computers to browse each other in a manner similar to the way a winbox and browse a Linux box with Samba? Ya know, like the network neighborhood thing, not the smbclient get put thing? Thanks

Hi whenever i try to mount a samba share which is a samba server i get an error message that says "smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct mounts(500, 500) smbmnt failed1" On that note i tried to run "smbmount" as root but this did't work out. i also tried to run smbmnt as root, up to now my problem was not solved.
