News: Heroku bought: Salesforce wants some Ruby love: $212m goes a long way
News to me. Probably worth considering when choosing your deployment
options.

Dreamforce 2010 Why would a company that spent 10 years delivering CRM
as a service drop $212m in cash and $27m in stock on a 30-person
startup that hosts Ruby on Rails apps for devs on Amazon?

BUG? 'valid users' doesn't allow groups from trusted domains
...#39;fred' has an account on NTDOMAIN (NTDOMAIN+fred) and is a
member of the 'sales' group on NTDOMAIN (@NTDOMAIN+sales)
- User 'wilma' has an account on ADSDOMAIN (ADSDOMAIN+wilma) and is a
member of the 'sales' group on ADSDOMAIN (@ADSDOMAIN+sales)
If the share 'salesforce' has a 'valid users =' line in it, members of
the trusting domain have no access by group; they can only access it if
their accounts are specified explicitly. For example:
[salesforce]
path = /data/salesforce
valid users = @NTDOMAIN+sales, @ADSDOMAIN+sales
then fred will hav...

Setting up omniauth with salesforce login in rails 2.3.8( ruby 1.8.6)
Hi,
We have a production rails app running on ruby 1.8.6 with rails version
2.3.8.
We are thinking about setting up omniauth to allow users login through
salesforce.
But the omaniauth ldap dependency inturn depends on ruby 1.8.7.
Is there any way we can setup ominauth without ldap dependency to work on
ruby 1.8.6?

CRM integration with Asterisk
Hi
I have seen discussion about Asterisk integration with SugarCRM and
Salesforce.com CRM in mailing list archives.
I just want to add here that Star Outlook Dialer (Free Edition) has
built in integration (through StarJunction) with SugarCRM as well as
with Salesforce CRM. It is available for free download at
http://www.starutilities.com/staroldialer.htm

...sers (no installation is required), on Mac, Windows and Linux desktops, and on mobile phones.
Besides basic softphone functionality, it provides instant messaging, group chat (channels), voice and video conferencing, and screen sharing. It integrates with a variety of applications and CRMs such as Salesforce, Zoho, Zendesk, Redmine, etc.
Try it out!

[VOIP-Users-Conference] Potential subject for Friday - Does the Asterisk community need a 3rd party commercial software ecosystem?
...'t sell any services such as ITSP hosted
Asterisk so I replied that wasn't what I was thinking of and gave the
example of Snap Dialer which is a low cost (I think I paid $20 for it)
application which allows me to dial names from outlook.
I then talked about some of the consulting I did for Salesforce.com and
how they have built an entire ecosystem of third party applications all
built by other people but utilizing the documented API's and application
security etc.
My comments were that although Asterisk should always remain a free open

(if we post enough information or comments it will be of benefit for
those that didn't attend)
For me personally it was the volume of neat add-on applications that the
Asterisk community are developing; Over time I'm hoping that this leads
to something like AppExchange from Salesforce.com were people can choose
from over 300+ applications or addons for SF.
I really want to see more speech recognition applications but I think
it's great what Lumen-vox are doing.
I'd also like to see someone post some more modified "ftp to text to
speech"

Asterisk Vm functionality question
Going over the needs of any PBX that replaces our current system
(working toward Asterisk) and have VM functionality question.
Currently when someone leaves a voice mail for a sales person (Who is in
the field) the system takes the VM and then in turn dials over a POTS
line and pages the sales person notifying them of a VM (Does not deliver
the message-just notifies)
Is this possible with
