Rosetta Stone again
Many people have discussed the problems with Rosetta Stone, in particular the failure to detect the cdrom with the "Language Pack". I am having the same problem, but none of the described solutions work for me. I think that my dosdevices are configured correctly: niemand at dell dosdevices $ ls -l total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 niemand users 10 2007-09-07 11:59 c: -> ../drive_c lrwxrwxrwx 1

SafeDisc copy protection
Hello all. I am trying to run a legitimate copy of an MSWin game under wine. The game is NHL 2002 and according to this site (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/gamedb.php?letter=N), it comes with SafeDisc version 2.40. I tried to search around a little more and I have no reason to doubt this. I found out, that since wine version 0.9.something only SafeDisc version 1 is supported. I found this page

Nexus - The Jupiter Incident support in wine
There is a community here and a webpage wiki: http://arparso.de/nexus/ Nexus has some support in wine. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=317 > Nexus: The Jupiter Incident is protected using SafeDisc. Currently, Wine cannot run games off a cd that are protected using SafeDisc. A simple workaround would be to use no cd executables. Can the problems with

The other big news item is that with our recent DirectInput work, and a minor tweak to Wine's OpenGL thunking layer, American McGee's Alice demo now works perfectly. The full version won't work, due to SafeDisk copy protection, but we're starting to talk to engineers at Macrovision to help us resolve that issue. New TransGaming Patch
This worked with: Wine CVS from Jan 29th + Transgaming patch XFree 4.0.2 NVidia drivers 0.9.6 Had to turn off DGA, and force wine to manage created windows, otherwise I get a glXMakeCurrent error when it tries to set the current GLX rendering context. The frame rate isn't quite windows, but the demo is certainly playable. Good luck, Dan "Chris Howells"

Morrowind sees wine as a debugger and refuses to start.
Hello list, I successfully installed Morrowind. Unfortunately, the game won't start. It issues a small popup saying a debugger has been detected, and that the debugger needs to be closed for the game to run. Is there any way I can avoid programs to see Wine as a debugger? Thanks! _________________________________________________________________ MSN Messenger : discutez en direct avec vos

...Can you tell me when the patch will be added to the download? Or if it is > an easy fix can you tell me what the fix is? For the easy fix you can comment out delete the parts which does not compile. Probably you will not lose a feature you need (the offending parts are for the support of the safedisk patch). For a proper fix you have to ifndef out the parts using features which are not present in 2.2. Or even provide an implementation which works with 2.2 kernel. Age of Empires doesn't start
Hi. I've been trying to make AoE (I or II) work on Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04, with Wine 1.1.37 (more recent versions don't start Civ4, and I prefer to play Civ4 than AoE ;-) The installation works fine, but the game crashes with the famous "We are sorry" window. This is a trace of a terminal start : nico at gaston:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Age of Empires II$
