6.0 image for Cisco 7960's?
Has anyone managed to get their hands on a 6.0 image for their 7960's
yet? Or is it still in beta?
Rumor (official rumor, from Cisco) is that it supports paging and
intercom. I'm anxious to start working with those features, if
they've been implemented sanely. What would be just as nice would be
NOTIFY messages for pushing XML URL's to the phones, but sadly that
feature

Pre Poettering rsync?
Hi all,
Five minutes ago I heard a rumor that Lennart Poettering has rewritten
rsync. My top urgency is to download the latest numbered version of
rsync untouched by Lennart Poettering: I'll find out if the rumor is
true or false later.
I've downloaded rsync rsync-3.1.3.tar.gz and rsync-patches-3.1.3.tar.gz
from https://download.samba.org/pub/rsync/ . Is the source code in both
those

Unsuccessful POP sessions on dovecot-1.0.3-13_60
A Client runs a RAS network. Users access mailboxes using Outlook Express.
The server runs dovecot-1.0.3-13_60.
Almost a week ago users began to report that they can't retrieve their mail.
The session starts, they seem to retrieve messages, but then the client
reports a problem and the session is terminated.
Here's what I have in the log:

CentOS, XFS, VirtualBox - can they just get along?
Hello all,
I am running VirtualBox 4.1 on CentOS 6 and I got this warning that putting
your VM's into an XFS filesystem is risky. I have also heard some rumors on
the net to this effect. Does anyone know in more detail what's behind those
rumors?
Thanks.
Boris.

icecast2
Hi,
I believe I have found another small problem. When a stream finishes, say
using the libshout example code, icecast seems to go into a loop at lock
at 100% CPU. This seems to be coming from the connenction select area. Any
ideas?
Also there were rumors around a while back that icecast2 would support
rtsp and possibly real. Is there any strength in these rumors?
Tim.

response to Luke's Letter [part I]
Folks,
As a member of the Samba Team, I want to add a few
quick comments and I'll follow up later with more details.
1) The Samba code has not forked. Don't
believe any rumors people posted to the
mailing lists. Rest easy.
2) There is no dissension among members of
the Samba Team. Luke's letter was his
own and as all members of the team
he is free to move one to other projects as he
wishes and to continue to work on Samba
under the same development guidel...

ASP running on a Linux Machine
Good morning all,
I currently have a website that was written in ASP back in 1999. The
system is currently running Windows 2003 Server with MsSQL. Before
everyone flames me for being in the wrong place, I was wondering if
there is a way to allow centos to run old ASP code? I know years ago
this wasn't possible without a program like ChiliASP, but noow I heard
rumor that apache might have

ZFS encryption?? - [Fwd: [osol-announce] SXCE Build 105 available]
It was rumored that Nevada build 105 would have ZFS encrypted file
systems integrated into the main source.
In reviewing the Change logs (URL''s below) I did not see anything
mentioned that this had come to pass. Its going to be another week
before I have a chance to play with b105.
Does anyone know specifically if b105 has ZFS encryption?
Thanks,
Jerry

g729.so codec
Rumor on the IRC channel has a bug being fixed in the g729.so codec
that was causing some hangups under certain circumstances. I see
that codec_g729b.so in the ftp://ftp.digium.com/pub/asterisk/g729/
directory has a timestamp of today. Can anyone comment on the
advisability of upgrading all of my g729-licensed sites?

what will january 19th bring?
so, the rumor is that apple will announce
an authoring-tool for e-books tomorrow,
and most specifically for digital text-books.
and, if you look closely, they _are_ rumors.
nothing more... plus, they don't even seem
to be coming from sources inside of apple.
nonetheless, the rumor is "authoring tools".
"garageband for e-books", as ars called it...
if it's true, it'd be great. at least it might be.
(apple's software rarely m...

Reencode ogg/vorbis stream/file with lower bitrate?
Greetings to all,
It's been rumored that subj is possible, even with no decoding/encoding
the .ogg file, but simply throwing out some information from it. I just
wonder: is it really possible, and if yes, if there some software
capable of doing this?

ZFS and Virtualization
.... When the zpool is located on a lun sliced from a raid group shared by multiple systems the capability of doing i/o from this zpool will be limited. Avoiding or limiting i/o to this lun until the load from the other systems decreases would overall help performance for the local zpool.
I heard some rumors recently about using SMI-S to "de-virtualize" the traffic and allow Solaris to peek through the virtualization layers thus optimizing i/o target selection. Maybe someone has some rumors to add ;-)
Virtualization with 6920 has been briefly discussed at http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/threa...

Status of Xen-Powermanagement-Support
Hi!
What is the current status of support for PowerNow! and Speedstep?
As I remember there were rumors, that those techniques were just
supported for dom0, meaning that all the guests would run slow if dom0
idles.
Is there already a solution for this implemented (in the unstable-tree),
so that guests do also influence power-state?
If so, does it also work with dualcore-cpus or is it better to st...

Sun Microsystems Quad gigabit ethernet nic compatibility
Hello I am thinking of buying this card to and wanted to know if this NIC
is supported. The card is a Sun Microsystems PCI-X Quad-Port Gigabit
Ethernet Adapter QGEXPCI 501-6738-10. Can't find any info on how well the
card plays with centos and also proxmox ve (if any of you use that distro )
If things don't seem to work I may bite the bullet and buy an Intel card

using R in a java application
Dear All,
I'd like to write a little application in java wich should pass some commands and data to R and displays the results (tables and charts) in a java frame. First I wanted to work with Omegahat's SJava but had lots of issues already at the installation.
Then I heard some rumors that SJava generally is not a very active project and runs rather buggy (that's true?). So my question is, are there alternatives to use R in a Java application, like other libraries? What would you recommend me? I appreciate any usefull links on that topic: Java and R.
Thank you in advance,...

Opinion on best way to use network storage
I need the community''s opinion on the best way to use my storage SAN to host
xen images. The SAN itself is running iSCSI and NFS. My goal is to keep
all my xen images on the SAN device, and to be able to easily move images
from one host to another as needed while minimizing storage requirements and
maximizing performance.
What I see are my options:
1) Export a directory through NFS.

DomU 2TB vbd limit?
Hi everyone,
Just a quick question:
Is there a limit on the vbd size for pv guest domains, I''ve found only
rumors on the Internet about a 2TB limit, but from my experience with
xen-3.0.3 /linux-kernel-2.6.18-5 (installed from a debian etch packages)
I can say that a lvm volume of 3.7TB as created and formated in Dom0 is
seen as 1.85TB only of course reporting a corrupted xfs filesystem
ending after the end of...

resource_feeder feedback
Let me apologize in advance as this is a topic that I feel passionate
and opinionated about. If I''m coming on too strong, please forgive me.
=== Be opinionated===
My first piece of advice is simple: be opinionated. Change the method
name to simply <feed_for>. Have it default to doing the right thing.
Perhaps give an option to change the default feed format, but default to
