HTTP parse error due to an extra percent sign
If you append an extra percent sign to a URL that gets passed to
mongrel, it will return a Bad Request error. Kind of odd that
"http://localhost/%" causes a "Bad Request" instead of a "Not Found"
error.
Here is the error from the mongrel log:
HTTP parse error, malformed request (127.0.0.1):
#<Mongrel::HttpParserError: Invalid HTTP format, parsing fails.>

BIND 9.7.3 -- TCP DoS in SO_ACCEPTFILTER
The release notes for BIND 9.7.3 contain this:
* A bug in NetBSD and FreeBSD kernels with SO_ACCEPTFILTER enabled
allows for a TCP DoS attack. Until there is a kernel fix, ISC is
disabling SO_ACCEPTFILTER support in BIND. [RT #22589]
The CHANGES file also says:
2996. [security] Temporarily disable SO_ACCEPTFILTER support.

fd.o services outage, annarchy $HOME lost
...your own backups (or make sure the
> Wayback Machine knows about it).
Again, please accept our apologies. The decision was made a long time
ago to not back up $HOME, and it was mentioned a few times, but
certainly not documented nearly as widely as it should've been (i.e.
shouted from the rooftops), given that a few people have lost data and
been upset about it.
The plan for when we get new hardware is to run the old hardware as
redundant backups, with regular rsyncs, so we can fail over and have
less downtime, as well as have a backup (of sorts) of $HOME.
Hopefully this doesn't put y...

Format comparison
...ome tinnitus in both ears), that
was an awfully curious position to take. After some thought it seemed
likely that he was simply being disingenuous, since someone from his
record label probably convinced him that unless he started shouting
"MP3 is bad! MP3 is inferior! MP3 sucks" from the rooftops at every
opportunity, his record sales could suffer.
I'd hope he isn't that naive, but it certainly appeared that way to me
from the interview.

Bridging two subnets selectively using routing
Hi LARTC,
I have two networks that I manage, A and B. They both have their own
primary gateways for hosts on the network, let''s call them AR and BR.
There is another box, A1, which lives on network A but also has a wire
connecting it to a switch on network B. My goal is to let hosts on B
access three particular hosts on A''s subnet (192.168.4.0/24) and let
hosts on A access one

Is it just me, or is Ruby exploding?
I am being barraged with Ruby, Rails and Rich Internet application
work right now. Almost enough that I could quit the day job and make a
go of it, forgetting about Java altogether. Places in the greater
Miami area are turning on to Rails and Ruby -- much of it fueled by
the stronger voices in the local Java community.
Am I alone in this, or do many of you see absolutely explosive growth
in Ruby,
