Letor: Post Mid-Term plan
Hello Rishabh,
As per our previous discussion, we will talk each week now about the
project. Please update the timeline/todo/journal accordingly so that we can
check the status on this saturday for this week.
Please remember that this half of the programme is smaller and hence we
would need to be very punctual...

Mid-term progress
Hi Rishabh,
As per our last progress meeting, I am off for some days and as now its the
time to mid-term evaluation, it would be better to generate a progress
report.
For that, you should first commit the code as it is and then write 2 to 3
page summary explaining the deliverables so far and then the future...

Doubt regarding Feature selection for 'Learning to Rank' algorithms
Hi Rishabh,
I had this feeling before. This is a really nice idea BUT we can not go
ahead with the project which is still not tested in the experimental
settings. Though it may be a wonderful research exercise, I would still
vote to go for the state-of-the-art methods which are completely published
with full...

calculate the principle components of a data set through correlation as

then a similar calculation is performed. I would like to know how I can perform such a calulation directly. Any help would be

A Little Help
Hi Rishabh,
I think its better not to expose RankiList to Letor.h and make it better
user friendly. So my suggestion is to convert RankList to the following
statement in this method.
std::map<Xapian::docid, double> letor_score(const Xapian::MSet & mset);
So just convert the RankList in std::map&l...

...if so
how?
Also, could somebody please tell me the difference between the aov() function and the anova()
function. I've been using aov() so far and it seems to work fine. Could somebody tell me what the
difference is and which one is better.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

Letor re-factored code
Hello Rishabh,
The attached diff file should help you to refactor the existing letor code
and plug in your code easily. I have defined the header files with the
necessary flow. I have also specified the ranker class, which should be
implemented by a new LTR models, ListNet and ListMLE in your case. The

I took some time out in the recent days to work on the refactoring. And now

code. I would like you to complete it by implementing (copy/paste/little

I'm not sure whether such a function already exists within R or whether it would have to be

advice as to how I can achieve this.
Many Thanks

GSOC - 2013 - Introduction (Learning to Rank)

http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=79832898&trk=tab_pro)
I am interested in "Learning To Rank" project. If I am not wrong, I found
the framework incorporated by Parth in the cloned code. It needed some
refactoring in order to incorporate more algorithms and was done by Rishabh
and available in his git repo (https://github.com/rishabhmehrotra/xapian)
but is still not merged. So, I assume I should think of additions to the
code in Rishbh's repo. Moreover, I noticed that SVM-rank, ListMLE and
ListNet is already present in the code. I am interested in addition of a
rando...
