EXT3-fs error..bad entry in directory
Hello ext3-users,
We have a RH71 machine running 2.4.16 kernel with e2fsprogs 1.25.
I noticed many of these errors in our logs.
EXT3-fs error (device sd(8,1)): ext3_readdir: bad entry in directory
#884828: directory entry across blocks - offset=0, inode=404600689,

Attn: darkeye@tyrell.hu RE: Darkice
You helped me a few weeks ago setup DarkIce. Well I had nothing but problems doing it on RH62 so... here I am again but this time armed with RH71. I followed your instructions for installing lame and ogg vorbis and it's all fine. When I tr to install DarkIce though I get the following error.
# make
make all-recursive
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/download/darkice-0.6'

Run liveice as a background process...
...better to run it as a non-root user (though I'm not
aware of any specific security concerns with liveice). If you've been
running it as root, you'll need to chown -R the hidden temp files directory
(in the same dir as liveice).
Hope that helps

Suspiciously broken filesystem
...g to rebuild the system since I have lost trust in it.... I
was wondering if there was any reasonable postmortum work I could do on
it before it gets rebuilt.
History is that the laptop has a much mauled partition set on it -
initially it came with 100% win2k, I then shrunk that and added linux (a
RH71 install onto 2 partitions - /boot and /), then decided to get rid
of the win2k, and did a set of operations with parted 1.4.14 (running
from a boot floppy) to move and grow the root partition (which was ext2
through these operations).
I then installed the ext3 version from sourceforge onto a 2.4.5...

Thanks Tom,
There were some new readline packages created to address some of the
depedency problems in the 2.2.0 RH71 rpms available from rawhide. Someone
at RedHat was nice enough to redo them to correct the problem. They were
"ftprsync'd" to the various mirrors. I haven't tracked them down yet, but
allegedly there are RH71 rpms available to 2.2.0 that don't have
installation (dependency)...
