Samba newbie problems
Hi
I have recently installed samba on a RH7.0 box. This box has win98 +
linux rh7 installed and both os's are running well. The F drive on
windows is FAT32 and is mounted r/w on linux RH7. Works fine.
I also have a Win98se machine that needs to have full read/write access
to some partitions on the RH7 box. Samba was found ideal for such...

bug?: building RPM of 2.5.1p1 uses wrong pam.d/ssh file for RH6 vs RH7
...hd.pam-7.x, instead of the one for
RedHat 6.2 and eariler, sshd.pam-7.x Replacing the file fixed that
particular system, but the rpm itself contains the wrong file.
It would appear that the conditional in openssh.spec that is supposed to
select the redhat version is reversed:
If "--define rh7" is specified, the 6.2 file, "sshd.pam" is used,
else specified, then the file for 7.0, "sshd.pam-7.x" is used
The patch below fixes this by swapping if/else parts of the conditional.
OTOH, if the conditional is thought to be correct without this patch, then
the name of...

smbmount - file permissions on RH7

I am trying to mount a Win98 drive on my Redhat 7.0 box. The mounting is no
problem. However, when I log into my user account and try

RPM of R-1.2.1 for RH 7?
There does not seem to be a RPM for Red Hat 7 of version 1.2.1.
What should I do? I have a new computer with RH7.
I''m willing to try to make one from the SRPM, but I''ve never done
that before, and I don''t want to go to the trouble if someone
else is already planning to do it soon.
Likewise, I could install it from the tgz file. (I just did that
on a Solaris server, so I ought to...

Hi,
I'm trying to move from UW-IMAP to Dovecot.

Borland C++-5.5 (free) compiler does not install(?)
Hello!
I'm trying to install Borland C++ 5.5 free compiler into my RH7 Linux
box but I can't get it to work. Running the installer brings a blank
dialog with "Prev", "Next" and "Cancel" buttons but nothing more.. and
pressing the buttons doesn't do anything and the dialog doesn't close. I
waited for more than 15 minutes (I...

daemon
Hi,
I am struggling with starting smbd and nmbd as daemon under
RH7.0. I made a file just like the example in the doc:
#!/bin/sh
/usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D
/usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D
which I called "startsmb". Then I changed added the execution
permission and ran it, but it doesn't run as a daemon.
I also tried running both commands from the...

when RedHat makes patches for only some versions
...that someone here will be familiar enough with the upstream policy to have some useful information.
How does RedHat decide which versions to release patches for, e.g. https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2015-7613 <https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2015-7613> which has only a RH7 erratum, not 6? And are they likely to eventually release a fix for this type of issue for RH6?
thanks,

Re: virt-v2v: Died at /usr/bin/virt-p2v-server line 411
....html
I am using libguestfs through oVirt 3.4 (RHEV), and whoever knows this
project knows how intricated the packages are.
As this is a production environment, I can not play with trying to
change libguestfs on the oVirt manager.
But I would be enthusiastic to install a dedicated P2V server, on RH7,
with the very last libguestfs, if that helps me to insure our future P2V
will succeed.
But according to what I understood so far, I'm not sure one can install
such a P2V server, independent of any oVirt setup.
As a matter of fact, I'll be glad to test the last libguestfs version,
but...

Transition to CentOS - RAID HELP!
Hi Folks,
I've inherited an old RH7 system that I'd like to upgrade to
CentOS6.1 by means of wiping it clean and doing a fresh install.
However, the system has a software raid setup that I wish to keep
untouched as it has data on that I must keep. Or at the very least, TRY
to keep. If all else fails, then so be it and I...

My mission, should I choose to accept it, involves moving
our embedded application to CentOS 4.1 with gcc 3.x
Problem is that about 1/2 million lines of code that gcc 2.96
accepts gives fatal fits to the gcc 3.x compiler from CentOS 4.1
I don't know how many fata...

plotting text from formatted object

simple engough but is there an easy way to plot the
formatted table of an anova object in the fifth plotting
region? I am using v1.2.1 on RH7. The code I am using
follows:

**££!!*** Proliant!
This Proliant (ml330 G3) has an HP CSB-6 (LSI/Megaraid) disk controller that
isn't recognised by the installer.
A quick search on Google reveals drivers from RH7 - AS2.1 but nothing for 3
or 4 unless anyone knows different!? If not I'll just have to disable it and
install a supported RAID card.
Anyone!?
