Residential services
Hi folks, The obligatory newbie disclaimer: "Hi, I'm new to Asterisk and I have a couple questions..." OK, now that that's over with: I've just started working for a small CLEC, and I'm trying to sell * to my boss as a replacement for some expensive/inflexible/closed-source software he's been using to provide residential dialtone with for a couple years now.

a2billing for residential voip usage
Hello List. I just installed a2billing with asterisk 1.6 and got it working. The only problem is that I'm trying to setup something to manage who's using the most minutes in the house. I noticed a2billing only works for callin cards setups, or maybe I didn't configure it correctly for what I want. Can I use a2billing for "?VoIP residential services"? if yes, how? if no,

Residential router w/ QoS support?
Did anybody ever come across an affordable, residential cable/dsl router with support for QoS? The ones I've seen so far (Netgear, D-Link and W-Linx) do not seem to support it. I noticed that even email can damage a G.711 stream on an 128kbit uplink, leave alone file-sharing applications. I understand this is strictly related to *, but nevertheless of interest to many of us. Thilo

asterisk and verizon DSL
Is anyone succesfully running Asterisk behind verizon residential DSL? I seem to be having some problems with my Asterisk server switching to Verizon. I'm attempting to do some troubleshooting, but I'm really interested in knowing of anyone's setup that already has Asterisk working with Verizon residential DSL. Thanks AJ ------------------------------------------------------ This

Residential portals and real world scalability
Hey all, I have a couple of questions. 1) What is the maximum amount of registrations and ongoing calls you've been able to achieve on your Asterisk systems. Please do not respond with marketing hyperbole. I'm looking for real world implementation in the thousands range. For instance, max I recall having on one souped up server was a couple hundred registrations with no more than 70

Best ATA for general residential deployment??
I read the thread about what IP phone is best for business deployment with great interest. Our need is slightly different however. We are deploying VoiP as a value-add with our high speed internet service and are having trouble finding the right SIP analog terminal adapter. In order to support people's existing phones and wiring we need to use an ATA. 1) The first priority is we want

They don't care where geographically you plug it in!! When you sign

voice quality of Aastra 480i CT and cordless
Hi Folks, Looking for feedback on the cordless phones with the Aastra 480i CT handset. Is voice quality comparable to standard consumer residential 2.4GHz cordless phones in the US$30 - $50 price range, or better/worse? How about handset and speakerphone quality for the main phone? Seems like there have been various big issues with firmware in past, but is it pretty stable now? Thanks,

CallerID name lookup AGI script
Hi all, My VoIP provider (race.com) doesn't send name info with CallerID, so I wrote an AGI script that does the following: 1) If it's a toll free number (800|888|877|866), set the CallerID name to "TollFree Caller" 2) Use curl to look up the number in Google phonebook 3) If a business listing, set the CallerID name to business name, as is. 4) If it's a residential

We are aiming to replace the primary phone line so the service must be up as long as possible so we are looking at ways to avoid shut downs. We are looking for a solution to allow us to add/remove PRI cards without shutting down the system Is there such a thing as an asterisk compatible

Polycom phones and dynamic IP for NAT
I know the Polycoms work with NAT, but you have to specify the public IP. Is there anyway for it to discover the external IP automatically? I like the phones (been playing with a 301) but for some of our clients who have a dynamic IP (and no hope of getting a static ie cable or residential DSL) I'd be afraid to use them since you have to specify the IP. What about the Cisco phones?

Dual X100P cards
I know the X100P cards are not supported by Digium any more, but for home office use, are they still acceptable? I have two POTS lines, one residential and one business line comming into the house. OT: Canada's Primus introduces SIP localservice
I am sure Primus has a SIP platform because we have played with it. We managed to use it on MSN's SIP phone as well as couple Zultys ZIP2x2 hard phones. Their PC-Phone app is also a SIP soft phone. If you are registering to sip.iprimus.net then it is definitely their SIP platyform not MGCP. David >>> asterisk-users@eol.ca 1/21/2004 6:39:34 AM >>> I'm not sure Primus

MGCP with Cisco doesn't work
I'm trying to link up Cisco MGCP-enabled router (residential gateway) with Asterisk, and it looks like some sort of protocol mismatch, could it be MGCP 0.1 vs 1.0? Look at this (x.x.x.99 is the router, x.x.x.98 is Asterisk): MGCP read: NTFY 2 aaln/0@voip-gw1 MGCP 0.1 X: 0 O: hd from 192.168.154.99:2427MGCP read: NTFY 2 aaln/0@voip-gw1 MGCP 0.1 X: 0 O: hd from 192.168.154.99:2427Verb:
