memory map issues with PV PCI passthrough
I have a system with several reserved ranges low in the e820 map which cause problems when starting PV domains with PCI devices. The machine memory map looks like: (XEN) 0000000000000000 - 0000000000060000 (usable) (XEN) 0000000000060000 - 0000000000068000 (reserved) (XEN) 0000000000068000 - 000000000009ac00 (usable) (XEN) 000000000009ac00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000000e0000

Reserved/Unallocatable Registers
Lately I have had a few discussions of what it means for a register to be unallocatable or reserved. As this comes up every now and again and I often struggled answering such questions I decided to write down some definite rules and codify the current usage and assumptions. I plan to put the rules below into the doxygen comments of MachineRegisterInfo etc. And I also hope that people will correct

How do I deal with ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: Validation failed:
Hello all, I am currently writing model tests in rails 4. I am attempting to add an error to a reservation object if the total number of reservations for a given date and time has reached a pre-determined limit. When my test runs, it is hitting the appropriate code but it is raising the following error as opposed to just giving me an error in the object that I can use.

[LLVMdev] Conceptual difference between "Unallocatable" and "Reserved" registers.
Hi, I'm writing to ask the differences between a "reserved" register and an "unallocable" register. In X86 backend, for example, the stack pointer register and instruction pointer are reserved but allocatable. In the Doxygen document of function llvm::TargetRegisterInfo::getReservedRegs, it says that a reserved register is one that *has particular uses and should be

[PATCH] Btrfs: use bytes_may_use for all ENOSPC reservations
We have been using bytes_reserved for metadata reservations, which is wrong since we use that to keep track of outstanding reservations from the allocator. This resulted in us doing a lot of silly things to make sure we don''t allocate a bunch of metadata chunks since we never had a real view of how much space was actually in use by metadata. There are a lot of fixes in here to make this

VirtRegMap invariant: no reserved physical registers?
Hey all, I've found a bug in either the PBQP register allocator or in VirtRegRewriter. I'm observing this assertion in VirtRegRewriter::rewrite() fail: unsigned VirtReg = MO.getReg(); unsigned PhysReg = VRM->getPhys(VirtReg); ... assert(!MRI->isReserved(PhysReg) && "Reserved register assignment"); Indeed there is a case where

How to find out the default CPU / Features String for a given triple?
When I pass an empty string for cpu and features to createTargetMachine, and then use LLVMGetTargetMachineCPU() and LLVMGetTargetMachineFeatureString() to get the strings back, they are still empty. Is there a way to have llvm compute the effective cpu/features string, and provide it so that I can inspect it? I'm trying to figure out how the cpu/features string that I am explicitly passing,

EXT3 Reserve Space
Hi All, Whenever an EXT3 partition is created some space is reserved for super-user, I used the mkfs.ext3 with option -m set to 0, but there is no effect it still reserve the space. How can i set the reserved-space to 0 or calculate the reserved-space in advance? Any suggestion/idea? Regards, -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

[PATCH v2, part1 00/29] Use helper functions to simplify memory intialization code
The original goal of this patchset is to fix the bug reported by https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53501 Now it has also been expanded to reduce common code used by memory initializion. This is the first part, which applies to v3.9-rc1. It introduces following common helper functions to simplify free_initmem() and free_initrd_mem() on different architectures:

http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2003-March/008088.html "why is there such a delay in getting ipv6 rolled out when it solves all these problems ?" === There are many reasons... 1. Leasing Address Space from the I* society (small s...aka the Big Lie Society) is not desirable by all people... 2. The IPv6 Privacy Problem...that is especially important in the area of computer

Reserved/Unallocatable Registers
Let's try this again after some longer offline discussions: = Reserved Registers = The primary use of reserved registers is to hold values required by runtime conventions. Typical examples are the stack pointer, frame pointer maybe TLS base address, GOT address ... Zero registers and program counters are an odd special case for which we may be able to provide looser rules. == Rules == 1)

Reserved/Unallocatable Registers
Hi Matthias, This pretty much matches my memory. I think that the rules are a bit ad hoc and not followed to the letter everywhere. It would be good to codify something concrete. I thought that I added some way of distinguishing between constant registers and other reserved registers but I can’t find it now. We do some register coalescing that is not consistent with your rules here: If a virtual
