functions : server_input_channel_req userauth_pubkey
...to openssh
which record the users rsa/dsa identity comment file to
a log file when the user logs in (password authentication
is disabled).
The ssh1 portion of the modification works perfectly
but the ssh2 portion has me completely lost.
in userauth_pubkey() [ in auth2.c ]
i defined a variable realname (char 40).
which gets set after user_key_allowed2 is processed.
i want to pass this variable to server_input_channel_req
but i can not find where these two functions are being called
from.

Unix Realname with samba 2.2.4
Hi there,
is it possible to acitivate Unix Realname with samba 2.2.4 ? I've tried it, but samba will ignore
the unknown parameter. Does there exist an alternative parameter like unix realname under
samba 2.2.4 ???

querying realname
Hello,
I need to query additional information about NT domain users (especially
the realname) from a PDC for display in a web frontend running on a Linux
box. But so far I've been unable to find anything within the samba suite
that seems to be able to do that. Does anybody have a clue what I can use
for that purpose?

change sender name in Sieve
Hello,
the vacation module of Sieve works fine for me, but the sender name
(From Header) is always the e-mail address. I'm unable to add a name
here. I'd love to have my realname in the From: field.
Did I miss something? :-)
Thanks,

how to deliver when username and email differ
...an Active Directory virtual setup and am using LDA to deliver to
local recipients. Today I found a big problem with my configuration and
not sure if this is fixable. Some of the users have multiple email
addresses and the %n variable for user doesn't match their actual
username. So if I have realname "Joe Bob" with a username of "joe" and
an email of "jbob at somewhere.com", deliver will try to deliver to "jbob"
and this is wrong. Here is the relevant part of my ldap config:

remote name change & machine account creation (Bug ?)
...emote_machine_name() (in lib/substitute.c) which might be the reason of
my problem...
It's the first time I take a look into the samba source code, and I don't
understand well how it works, but the param "perm" of this function seems to
define if smbd must look (or not) for the realname of the computer.
The only call of set_remote_machine_name() that I found which defines perm as
True is in auth/auth_ntlmssp.c.
set_remote_machine_name(auth_ntlmssp_state->ntlmssp_state->workstation, True);
But I don't dare to change it as False because I don't understand what s...

RFC: Switching from Bugzilla to Github Issues
...er of users where the
> mapping isn't obvious.
Replying to myself here - I rememeberd that when viewing a commit on
github, github is actually very good at replacing any references to the
original author name with their github username (to the extent that it
actually is hard to find the realname of the author when viewing a
commit).
So for CCing people on issues, the author/committer should be easy to
discover; potential related reviewers are the only ones where discovering
their github usernames might be tricky. And that's much less important.

Thunderbird supports SPECIAL-USE (Merry x-mas!)
...es easier. Clients don't create their own
'special folders'. They understand special folders already exist and adapt. No
more superfluous ambiguous folders. Users will know where their messages have
been stored.
Note: Combined with automx [2] users will only have to enter their
realname, mail address and (optional) password and their client will setup
all the rest automatically.
SPECIAL-USE started as a suggestion to friends at IETF. We sponsored its
implementation in Dovecot [3], when it had become a RFC standard. Then we took
out to bring it to Thunderbird.
This took use...
