Shoutcast directory listing?
This is absolutely not "off-topic" and if this list will not support this VERY IMPORTANT discussion, then I will be happy to host the discussion on a different list for those who are interested. I have been trying to solve this for some time. Much of the problem so far has been Shoutcast internal problems (on their site) which I assume are cleared up now. My current assumption is it

Max Icecast Listeners
I am curious if anyone has had enough experience to know --> how many simultaneous listeners can be supported by typical server boxes, assuming unlimited bandwidth is available? My specific case: My server (http://www.AirProgressive.org) is on a Linux VPS server located in a datacenter and on a optical backbone so that bandwidth is not the problem. Each connection I am running is at 32kbps

Shoutcast directory listing?
I've been reading posts on the difficulty in getting an icecast stream listed in the shoutcast directory. Apparently, it is necessary to run the shoutcast server to do this. Before I go down a cheeseless rathole, I thought I'd pass this over this list to see what response I would get.

Shoutcast directory listing?
...s cannot do without being listed on the popular SC directory. Currently we have about 98% SC servers and 2% Icecast. -----Original Message----- From: icecast-bounces at xiph.org [mailto:icecast-bounces at xiph.org] On Behalf Of Thomas.Rucker at tieto.com Sent: Tuesday, 9 August 2011 5:00 p.m. To: raylutz at cognisys.com; icecast at xiph.org Subject: Re: [Icecast] Shoutcast directory listing? *snip* SC explicitly forbids listing streams that are not served by SC servers in their TOS. If you want to run SC, that however is not an Icecast problem, sorry. Thomas ____________________________________...

Tunein on Vizio plays only 1 sec, works fine elsewhere...
Hi! My icecast stream is at http://airprogressive.org:8000/stream Website is http://AirProgressive.org This works on Tunein on most platforms, including Android and PC, like this: https://beta.tunein.com/radio/AirProgressiveorg-s141251/ But on Vizio "Smart" TV app, it only plays about 1 sec, then stops with no indicated error. Trouble getting in icecast Directory
Yes, it is a "vague term" but it should match nonetheless. Is the directory code open source? If so, I don't mind locating the error and proposing a correction. First step is to have other people confirm that they get the same results that I do. On 8/7/2011 4:34 PM, Karl Heyes wrote: > On 07/08/11 04:56, Raymond Lutz wrote: >> Okay, it is working now. Orphan threads with Cellphone (Blackberry) player
Friends: The icecast server is very robust, but has some goofiness with regard to use with cell-phone players. Has anyone else encountered these issues? When I use a Blackberry to access the icecast stream, I get orphan and duplicate client threads. Multiple mount points without dynamic reencoding
Hello: I am running the icecast2.3.2 server and ices0.4 with a perl script which provides the filename of the next track to play. I am reencoding in advance using ffmpeg, which has been very reliable. My main stream is mp3, 64kbps / 44.1 kHz (mono) and I have pre-reencoded the tracks to 32kbps / 22.05 kHz (mono), for a lower data rate stream. At this time, I have not figured out how to get a
