XiphQT with Thusnelda for QuickTime X
Any progress in this issue? Or is the whole XiphQT project dead? Any 64bit package of XiphQT for MacOSX Snow Leopard on its way? Any solution on its way, which works with Quicktime X on Snow Leopard and which doesn't urge/force you to install and use the old Quicktime 7 player? Any solution on its way, solving the /Library/Components problem on MacOSX Snow Leopard/Quicktime X? See: [theora] XiphQT with Thusnelda? http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/theora/2010-February/0033...

QuickTime for Linux and vorbisfile
I recently began working on an application which will combine Ogg Vorbis with QuickTime on the Linux platform. I am using Ogg Vorbis 1.0rc1 and Adam Williams' QuickTime for Linux 1.3 library (http://www.heroinewarrior.com/quicktime.php3). I am having a strange problem. As soon as I #include <quicktime/quicktime.h>, the code causes a segmentation fault when run. When I lo...

Just sending a normal m3u stream. it's strange because if I kill the stream, quicktime will start play...

Quicktime + FLAC?
I bought myself a PowerBook and hoped to play my FLAC-encoded library via iTunes. Alas -- it doesn't work. My understanding is that iTunes uses QuickTime for playback; does anyone know where to find a FLAC codec for QuickTime? I noticed that there was some discussion about this ~1 year ago on flac-dev. Did any dev projects get underway, or should I roll up my sleeves and give it a go? -Dave

Ogg Vorbis QuickTime Component
...his is the place to ask about this, but I'm going to try anyway. There is an ogg-vorbis plugin for iTunes on Mac OS X that is downloadable from http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14259 or http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/mac/13012&mode=feedback Unfortunately, this plug-in (a Quicktime component) crashes iTunes for the latest version of Quicktime (7). Despite over a month's worth of complaints about this (see the messages posted at the above web page), the component still has not been updated, and no one appears to be working on it. So despite last month's post on this li...

Quicktime + FLAC?
If i could find some good documentation on quicktime, i'd probably give it a shot... since i already have most of the infrastructure already for directshow. I had a look a few times for detailed info on quicktime, and it all looked pretty painful. Not to mention all the base media handler code provided for the sdk, says not suitable for bit...

Wine and iTunes6: Gets quicktime version wrong?
Hi all, I've been trying to install iTunes with wine. I've followed Frank's instructions...got them installed, but, when I run iTunes, it complains that quicktime version required is 7.0.3 or later, and that I somehow have 7.0.d0.... I've seen others out there having same problem, but, no resolutions. Any suggestions or links? I've tried on wine 0.9.10 and now emerging 0.9.12. I'm running Gentoo linux... TIA, chilecayenne

Quicktime, Ogg, Vorbis
What does Steve Nicolai's Quicktime component do? Does it create - an Ogg stream with Vorbis audio data inside it ? - a Quicktime stream with an Ogg track with Vorbis audio inside ? - a Quicktime stream with an audio track encoded with the Vorbis codec ? (I wish it could do all the three options above) Best regards, Elifarley C....

QuickTime Streaming Server 4 streams MP3s
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Somewhat OT, but it looks like a new player has entered the streaming MP3 server arena. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/qtss/ QTSS v4 was announced at the QuickTime Live conference today. Amongst its other features, it can now stream MP3s to any Internet-capable MP3 listener program. Source is available at http://www.publicsource.apple.com/projects/streaming/ , which rocks. Gonna D/L it now and give...

XiphQT and QuickTime X
I've just finished installing Apple's shiny new Mac OS X version 10.6 (aka "Snow Leopard.") One of the very first things I did was place XiphQT 0.1.9 into /Library/Components. It appears that it doesn't work with the new QuickTime X: The .ogg and .ogv files are grayed out in the Open File dialog box and cannot be selected. Right-clicking on the file, selecting Open With, and then selecting QuickTime Player makes it immediately barf saying "The document bug_buck_bunny_480p_stereo.ogg could not be opened. QuickTime Player...

Xiph QuickTime Components project announcement
Hi, Just to let you know about the new Xiph QuickTime Components project. It should be of interest to people wanting to use ogg/vorbis files (and other Xiph formats, as well) in combination with QuickTime-based applications (e.g. see: iTunes). The project pages are at: http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/ The first OS-X(ppc) binary builds are out, as wel...

Quicktime 2 Theora Transcoder's Nano-Howto
After a bunch of cumbersome testing I was able to transcode a Quicktime MOV file to OGG with theora and Vorbis. The method's a bit fumbly, but it works... It is automatable except for the initial audio decoding. Software used: Xine, oggenc, ffmpeg, ffmpeg2theora, oggzmerge Step 1: Get the video out of Quicktime ffmpeg -i infile.mov -b 5000 -f mpeg2video outfil...

Quicktime Vs Windows encoding with VP3
...a suitable solution to broadband streaming. I have used flaskmpeg to create a 17mb .avi file from an 82mb Mpeg 1 file and it looks great it took about twenty minutes to encode. It runs for eight minutes and the audio is also fantastic using the lame encoder. However when I try to do the same in Quicktime with either Quicktime Pro 6 or Premiere6 or Ulead MSP6 I end up with a file that is 72mb in size and takes an hour and a half to encode. I use the same settings as I did with the AVI in flask except for using Qdesigns audio instead of MP3. I run Win2k Pro with a P4 2Ghz 512 Mb so have lots of gru...

Quicktime Component
Good news all! I now have a functional version of the Quicktime Component of the Ogg Vorbis decompressor. In English: this extension will allow all Quicktime apps to play .oggs (including iTunes). I plan on posting it ASAP. I have a few problems with memory that I'd like to get cleared up first. I plan on carbonizing it as soon as it functions in classic....

iPhone patches question
...atches. The metadata.server would run a script that can check for metadata either from a database or the Icecast server to display in a XML format. Then a display page such as web.server/display.php/htm would contact the metadata server and display its information and have an embeeded CoreMedia or Quicktime Player to play the stream from the actual icecast server. With the use of AJAX or automated checking in the page, you could check the metadata server's script every 3-25 seconds to return XML to be displayed such as: <metadata><title>Stream Title</title><song>A Song&lt...

Compiling the Xiph QuickTime component project in Xcode 3.2
...sent this question to flac-dev not realizing that QT development belongs in ogg-dev. As it pertains more to the QT component than to the FLAC project itself, I thought I'd repeat the question here in hopes of some kind of suggestions or pointers. I'm basically attempting to compile the Xiph QuickTime component project, which fails to build. Its dependencies compile fine, but the project itself spits out a myriad of related errors. Thank you! ----- I pulled the latest source code of the Xiph QuickTime component from the SVN repo along with all the external dependencies including FLAC. I've...

VP3/QT: Fix for QuickTime 6 GDI bug
QuickTime 6 for Windows breaks the VP3 codec quite severely--if you turn on "Safe Mode" (which forces QuickTime to draw through GDI), you'll see a white or black screen instead of video. This is logged as bug #2111990 in Apple's QuickTime feedback system. The fix is a classic one-liner,...
