Ok, here's a little surprise that just poked up during the QTSSv4 install.
This is from the install readme:
"- Native MP3/Icecast Streaming Support - http style streaming of native
MP3 files including the ability to broadcast MP3 play lists, *reflect
Icecast streams*, parsing and sending of MP3 ID tags."
Emphasis mine. Is this a surprise to everyone, or has Jack and the dev
team been holding out on us? ;)

Somewhat OT, but it looks like a new player has entered the streaming MP3
server arena.
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/qtss/
QTSS v4 was announced at the QuickTime Live conference today. Amongst its
other features, it can now stream MP3s to any Internet-capable MP3
listener program.
Source is available at
http://www.publicsource.apple.com/projects/streaming/ , which rocks.
Gonna D/L it now and give it a run. Not gonna dump icecast/ices,
considering the huge amount of time I've invested in converting my library
over to Ogg Vorbis (VORBICIZE!!!) format. :)

I'd be more interested in information on a native client that can play Quicktime(Sorenson) on Linux. Does one exist? I don't think it's a good idea to support closed standards like QT, WMA, etc. Just my $.02 though, Mark <p><p> Somewhat OT, but it looks like a new player has entered the streaming MP3 server arena. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/qtss/ QTSS v4 was announced at the QuickTime Live conference today.
