Hmm.. don't you like the quality of the QDesign Music 2 codec ? It's
impressive how it can encode in madly low bitrates and yet sound quite
recognizable (try to encode a tune at only 8 kbits/s with it).
BTW, when will vorbis be able to surpass QDesign Music 2 at this low
bitrate ?

Quicktime Vs Windows encoding with VP3
...s also fantastic using the lame encoder.
However when I try to do the same in Quicktime with either Quicktime Pro 6 or Premiere6 or Ulead MSP6 I end up with a file that is 72mb in size and takes an hour and a half to encode.
I use the same settings as I did with the AVI in flask except for using Qdesigns audio instead of MP3.
I run Win2k Pro with a P4 2Ghz 512 Mb so have lots of grunt.
If it is because of only supporting Quicktime 5 is their any intent to patch for 6

Encoding or Playback problem?
Hi all,
Have trouble encoding / playing back OGG using WinAmp + plugin. I encoded
the files from .WAV with Ogg drop RC2. Seems to be ok. When I try and play
them back though I get very very weird sound effects (some kind of
"wobbling", some bass frequencies that are usually in the background seem to
get more emphasised and they seem to have some kind of strange echo / reverb
to it
