ANN: pyshaper - for easy traffic-shaping
Hi,
I''ve released an alpha of ''pyshaper'' - a python prog which simplifies
traffic-shaping.
Requires python2.2 or later, a 2.4 or later Linux kernel with QoS
options compiled in, the iproute2 suite and optionally GeoIP as well.
pyshaper periodically netstats the current TCP connections, matches them
against your rules, and dy...

pyshaper
Has anyone used a program called ''pyshaper''?
It looks interesting and I am thinking of trying it.
Just wanted to see if anyone had success with this traffic shaping utility.

Weird quirk with ingress policing
Hi,
I notice that if two or more existing connections match an ingress
policing filter, the input bandwidth does not get evenly divided up
between the n connections.
Kinda like litters of baby animals, where the stronger babies get more
access to the mothers teats and grow up bigger and faster than their
siblings.
The only workaround that''s working for me is to set explicit ingress

Internet Cafe tcp and udp sharing
Hi guys,
I run an internet cafe with 40 odd computers in it and would like some
sugestions on sharing the data evenly for udp and tcp data.
Currently i have all tcp data put into a class thats half our link speed and
udp data doesnt get class''d at all. which works well but also means that the
line doesnt get shared in terms of bandwidth evenly.
What i would like tho is to setup a

TC in Wireless Environment
Hi,
Has anyone used TC in a wireless environment, which is dynamic. I understand
that the parameters for queuing are static and cannot be changed unless the
queuing discipline is deleted and reloaded with different parameters.
If anyone can share any experience, that would be helpful.
Thanx.
Azim.

How many (htb) tc classes and qdiscs are too many?
We have a Linux box that is acting as the gateway to the internet for about
400 people, typically there are not more then 50 of them using the internet
at any given time. We would like to provide different levels of access to
different users. For example 128kbps to some users and 256kbps to others.
We have considered creating a class and qdisc for each user (using htb)
however we don''t

creating built-in firewall for Wine
Hello!
I want to have firewall/monitor in wine. Configuring Linux firewall is an external solution that affects all programs etc.
The idea is to create configuration file for black- and/or while- list that would be analysed by wine during connections requests. The brute way is to modify ws2_32 dll source directly, but maybe there is more accurate way.
Could you suggest where to start digging?
