astdbdir in asterisk.conf has no effect
Hello,
On Asterisk 13.19 I'm trying to set astdbdir in /etc/asterisk.conf, but
it's not having any effect. For example:
# grep astdbdir /etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf
astdbdir => /tmp/asterisk
/tmp/asterisk exists and is owned by asterisk:asterisk, as the asterisk
processing is running as asterisk:asterisk with the config file forced:
# ps aux | grep asterisk
asterisk 3389 13.1 3.5

rxml vs rhtml
I have been wondering if anyone here knows which format is faster for
your templates? I am curious cause in the near future I may be using
some expensive scripts (timewise) and would like to try and squeak out
as much performance as possible. Is Ruby like other languages (ASP
classic for example) that inccur a penalty by switching between HTML and
Ruby Code?

REGISTER timeout problem with Broadvoice
Hi all,
We seem to be having an interesting issue maintaining our
registrations with Broadvoice. It seems to be related to the fact
that Asterisk does not normally include authentication with its first
REGISTER attempt. Normally, Broadvoice doesn't care, responds with a
401 Proxy Auth Required, and asterisk answers accordingly. However,
if the account is already registered, Broadvoice

automesh not working
From the tinc page:
"*Automatic full mesh routing-* Regardless of how you set up the tinc
daemons to connect to each other, VPN traffic is always (if possible)
sent directly to the destination, without going through intermediate hops."
That's exactly what's not working for me. Let me illustrate:
Both nodes B and C have ConnectTo statements to connect to node A. Node

truly dynamic real-internet IP
Here's the situation: I have a pre-existing, perfectly function tinc
VPN of 6 nodes. Works like a champ. All the nodes are cable modem
connected linux boxes, with the exception of one static IP elsewhere.
The cable modem dynamic IPs are don't change much, and when they do,
they update an external dynamic DNS service automagically whose
hostnames are referenced in the hosts files.

newbie problems
Hello all--
I am trying to get a tunnel up between a RedHat 9 (hare) machine and a
Suse 9 machine (turtle). tinc-1.0.2 compiled fine on each (although I
have tried this with the precompiled binary just in case). No matter
what I seem to do, I can't get any output whatsoever. No log output
with -d5 -D, no /var/log/messages output, nothing at all. tincd just
returns with a 1

ping: Bad Code: 6
Still experimenting with the automesh function. In the midst of that, I
encountered a new problem.
Of the 6 linux boxes in my tinc VPN, 3 were RedHat 9, 1 was Suse 9 Pro,
1 was Fedora Core 1, and one was RedHat 8.0. All was well. They were
running a mix of the static binary and locally compiled-from-source
binaries. I updated two of the RedHat 9 boxes to Fedora Core 1, about 3

A copy of XX has been removed from the module tree but is still active!
I have a class in my /lib/ directory called tracker.rb
It''s function is to receive an array of URLs and then perform 4
separate tasks on each URL
Each of the 4 tasks gets it''s own thread.
the class is called from my controller like:
output = Tracker.go([array_of_urls])
Sometimes, when it hits an exception, instead of just dieing
gracefully, my logs repeatedly display:

broadvoice/asterisk
Ok we have found a better solution. Put everthing back the way it was and
make sure that you have this line in your general section of you sip.conf
file:
srvlookup=yes
We have added a SRV entry in the correct place now. So everyrthing should
go the correct servers.

Question
Is there a way to prevent other users from being able to map a drive from
windoww95/NT to anyother user directory on the system. For example I can map
to anyone's account on the system and have read only access, is there a way
to stop this in either the global or share level?
Thanks

Broadvoice problems again
I had my asterisk configuration working very well with broadvoice, but
it stopped working this afternoon.
I plugged the Cisco 7960 phone I used for my origional signup (just a
few days before they offered generic BYOD) and it works fine. I did
notice it seems to do all of its comunication through
proxy.broadvoice.com (I used tcpdump). I have never contacted
broadvoice about using asterisk

Quick question on has_many :thorugh
I was reading the documentation on this today and was wondering more
about the has_many :though, :dependent=>:destroy options. I am curious
how deep the deletes goes. Does it stop with the intermediate table or
does it pass through to the final table?
For example:
database
Categories (name, id)
Listings (category_id,product_id)
Products (id, name)
Assume in my Category Class I have

Prediction errors from forecast()?
Hello,
I am using forecast() in the forecast package to predict future values of an
ARIMA model fit to a time series. I have read most of the documentation for
the forecast package, but I can't figure out how to obtain the forecast
variance for the predicted values. I tried using the argument
"se.fit=TRUE," hoping this would work since forecast() calls predict().
Is there an easy

*called* id name display?
Hello,
I've been using a Polycom IP 500 behind Asterisk for several months
now with fairly nice results. Just for grins today I decided to
register it directly against Broadvoice, and I noticed a particularly
fascinating phenomenon. When calling other Broadvoice users, upon
placing the call, my phone showed me the *called* user's name. That's
really slick. I've seen it happen

Can asterisk unregister?
Is it possible to make asterisk unregister from a proxy? I've seen
X-Lite unregister from asterisk, so I know it understands it at some
level. Googling all the usual places didn't reveal much. I looked
through chan_sip.c, but my untrained eyes didn't reveal anything.
Thanks,
Jeff
