Entropy and DSA keys
I remember a discussion to the effect that using DSA keys in sshd
increases the requirement for random bits available on the system... and
that this requirement (was it a 128 bit random number per connection?)
presents security problems on systems that don't have a decent source of
entropy? Am I misinterpreting those discussions?
We are having a problem deploying sshd (no prngd) where sshd

Well, if you can pursuade the release team. We have grub2 for Xen in
Jessie now and it can be used on Wheezy as well.

looking for commercial supporters of openssh
The organization that sets standards for Unix software in my company is in
the process of seeking a replacement for an internally-written remote
command execution tool (essentially an rsh with extra features such as
pseudo-tty support), and I'm trying to pursuade them to use ssh and
ultimately openssh. Since we're Bell Labs, we have a lot of Unix
machines. One of the things that

rsyncing fifos and sockets on FreeBSD
Hi there,
there is a problem (which as far as i know) is already known with rsync on
FreeBSD: it is not possible to rsync neither fifos nor unix domain
sockets (note that you have to be root there):
# mkfifo test
# file test
test: fifo (named pipe)
# rsync -a test test2
mknod test2 : Invalid argument
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at main.c(620)
# file /var/run/log

Does anyone know anything about this "0-day" ssh vulnerability?
Hi all. I've looked at the archives and it seems to be quiet regarding
this supposed "0-day" openssh vulnerability and I'm wondering if anyone
here may have some insight or further information regarding it.
We've been monitoring things and the amount of speculative info flying
around is incredible. Some claim it's the CPNI-957037 issue, thus
affecting <5.2, others

Thunderbird problem
Hello
Some users had occasionally a problem with Thunderbird , some random
emails with attachement(s) cannot be read anymore
the email appears empty and TB seems to enter in an infinite loop
saying it is downloading the message
The only solution I found was :
1 - stop thunderbird on the client machine
2 - remove the .imap user's directory
3 - restart thunderbird on the client machine

SSH & xauth (fwd)
...ealing with this, and still allowing X11 forwarding
from untrusted clients, is to use the Xnest server, limiting access by the
ssh client to that DISPLAY. As I observed at the time, Xnest was probably
not designed with this use in mind, and as such is probably ``breakable,''
meaning that a pursuaded party might be able to gain access to the proper
display through exploiting weaknesses in the Xnest server. I have not
audited the Xnest code to verify that this is or is not the case.
I believe at the time, Alan Cox responded with information about using the
Broadway extensions to limit access b...

Sub-Sub-Subfolders not shown after converting from maildir to mdbox
Hi again,
I just recognized a problem concerning subfolders after converting from
maildir to mdbox. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey don?t show folders that are
subfolders of subfolders.
Have a look at the filesystem:
discovery:/var/mail/domain.tld/patrick/mdbox/mailboxes/Folder1/Folder2#
ls -l
