Dell T3400 on CentOS 3.X
For reasons I'd rather not go into, I need to get
CentOS 3.anything on a Dell T3400:
http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/precn_t3400?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04
The hard drive is not seen at install time.
Can someone point me in the right direction to see if
this is possible and how to proceed?

Reproducible HVM DomU reboot Xen3.2 (Debian Stable)
...em.
First, the problem:
I have a Windows Server 2008 Standard 64bit DomU, I''ve installed a
number of applications, and it works quite well and runs stable for
weeks at a time so far (ie, has never crashed yet).
I tried to install QuickBooks Professional
(http://home.quicken.com.au/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?pcode=25&pcatid=11) or
Enterprise and after agreeing to the terms/etc the DomU reboots (but the
Dom0 and other DomU''s continue without error).
After some effort, I found this app is not supported on 64bit Windows
Server 2008. (Though I wouldn''t have thought they should b...

Driver for Ultra UPS BNT-1000AP
Hi I purchased an Ultra 1000VA UPS
(http://www.ultraproducts.com/product_details.php?cPath=35&pPath=154&productID=154)
I am trying to use nut with it (I am using gentoo

on the back suggest it might be similar to Black

So I tried the powercom

Dell 120 GB 5400 RPM Encrypted Serial ATA Hard Drive
Hi - I've been asked to re-partition a
Dell 120 GB 5400 RPM Encrypted Serial ATA Hard Drive
and install CentOS 5 on the new partition.
It's a Dell Lattitude E5400 laptop.
Is this even possible with encrypted drives?
Does CentOS 5 need special drivers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How would you burn up 20GB of fiber on a Xen farm?
...pany or project have their own resources.
I have little to no control over the brand of CPU (I would have much
preferred AMD) and name brand of the gear, but I do get some input on
what goes in each node.
They are dell Power Edge 2950''s, found here :
http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/pedge_2950?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz
Went with 2x quad core xeons, 32 GB ram per node.
I''m stuffing them full of large 10k SAS drives (probably 300 GB), and
getting the optional 2x 10GB optical ethernet adapters.
I have 2x 24 port Extreme optical switches (managed), so I...

Replacement brackets for Supermicro UIO SAS cards....
I just wanted to share this useful info as I haven''t seen it anywhere.
My scrounging-genius colleague, Lawrence, found standard PCI-e
replacement brackets for the justifiably popular Supermicro AOC-USAS-L8i
cards. They cost a few bucks each, fit perfectly and allow us to use
these cards extensively without any case-hackery.

Vonage sending Motorola gear now?
I got a call from an ISP friend tonight who said he is getting calls
from people who are getting signed up with Vonage. Instead of sending
them ATA186s, apparently they're receiving something made by Motorola.
They apparently work significantly differently than the Cisco units, and
there have been some problems.
Anybody know anything further?
Thx.

SugarCRM pro and PHP 5.2
We're looking at SugarCRM 5, but they strongly recommend PHP 5.2.4.
Looking around I see that a few individuals are maintaining repos for
CentOS, but I'd prefer to get it from one of the larger repositories.
Anyone out there using http://www.jasonlitka.com/yum-repository/ ?
Any idea when PHP 5.2x will be available?

forcing the driver to issue a different command on shutdown
It seems that the UPS I wrote in my previous mail uses the Megatec
protocol, but does not support the S<n>R<m> "Shut Down and Restore"
Command. This means that the server will shut down cleanly, but it will
not boot automatically when the utility power comes back. There is
another shutdown command according to the protocol description, although

wireless card for CentOS
Hi,
I'll need to buy a new wireless card. I need a recommendation for
PCMCIA wireless card that simply works with CentOS out of the box.
By "works out of the box", I mean that it doesn't need ndis wrapper
(or whatever it is called), kernel hacks, or whatever.
Thanks

NEC 1300A DVD-R writing
Hi,
so I just bought a NEC 1300A, primarily, because it allows me to write DVD+
and -RW. Using DVD-R discs (and currently no options to try other media, due
to shops being closed), I'm unable to write anything, using either the
dvd+rwtools port, or the dvdrtools.
I've exhausted all references to be found in google, which are in a language I
understand, so I'm hoping the list can
