Bug in "stats4" package - "confint" method
Dear R developers, I noticed a bug in the stats4 package, specifically in the confint method applied to ?mle? objects. In particular, when some ?fixed? parameters define the log likelihood, these parameters are stored within the mle object but they are not used by the ?confint" method, which retrieves their value from the global environment (whenever they still exist). Sample code: >

sip notify from iconnect
Hello, Recently I am seeing this message on my asterisk console received from Iconnect. Apr 30 11:37:21 NOTICE[1125329600]: chan_sip.c:5648 handle_request: Unknown SIP command 'NOTIFY' from '213.137.73.41' It is prety annoying as it appears once every four seconds. I've seen similar posts in the archives which points me to NAT keep alives being send by the remote end. I am actually on public internet and there is no NAT involved in, hence no nat config in sip.conf. Why would iconnect send notify messages ?...

Proxyarp vs DNAT
...h these virtual machines have addresses in the 192.168.2.0/24 subnet, and I use IPCOP to route requests to the x.x.x.67 and x.x.x.68 address to the appropriate machine. These are set up for testing purposes. I read the excellent shorewall documentation. One of the examples fits our situation prety closely. I was unfamiliar with proxyarp. It seems that I could I could give the two virtual machines DMZ 2 and DMZ 3 the x.x.x. 67 and 68 addresses and then put the appropriate entry in the proxyarp file. x.x.x.67 eth2 eth0 No x.x.x.68 eth2 eth0 No I would leave DMZ 1 w...

Hi Clive, > Well, apparently, no pure software solution can be patented (hardware can), > least that's what I saw on the national news here in the UK 2 weeks ago. Well, that is prety wrong. It is right on the paper, but the EPA which - i shame about taht - resides in my city have allready accepted ilegaly over 10000 trival patents on allgorithem and so one, so it becomes hart to fight them. There are some professor's who say's, that it is not posible to create a free...

Samba 3.0.3: Still cant change password after KB828741
I just downloaded and installed Samba 3.0.3 and it still doesn't fix the problem caused by the windows update discussed in KB828741. Still getting the message "You do not have permission to change your password" on some boxes, or "The system cannot change your password because the domain DOMAIN is not available" on others. Uninstalling the update still works, however this

Swfdec on STLinux
...t, but I think I'll get that going soon. The second tool is swfdec-directfb-bench, which is supposed to become my benchmark tool of choice for testing the speed of Flash rendering on DirectFB. It probably requires its own paragraph to explain. swfdec-directfb-bench is a simple application that prety much works like a default player. It does in a loop: a) forward the movie until something on screen changes b) render the changed parts And while doing that it measures the time taken. Note that it does not drop any frames, so it will render the same amount of stuff, no matter how fast/slow it is....

Troubles setting up Shoutcast relay
...9999 <p>OK first I gave the Shoutcast software a try....I set it up as relay but I quickly figured that theres a relay ip and port option but no relay mount path option. So how should shoutcast know which mount path to send to the server ? Connecting with a client to the shoutcast server did prety much what I expected...my server connected to the server I specified with the "relay" options but it couldn't find the stream and got a 404 from the server. I didn't find solutions for that so I went on and tried Icecast. Icecast seemed to be just the right thing for me. Configur...

Tuning the Linux kernel?
Hi all- It's often mentioned here that recompiling the Linux kernel may improve the performance of asterisk. My question is: Does re-compiling the kernel have any effect if there are no changes to the configuration? What parameters will typically improve performance? Thanks for any insight! Scott Scott M.
