Polycom gain settings
Hi All, I have some Polycom IP300's and I'm interested in increasing the max volume for the headset (not handset), I'm wondering if anyone has experience adjusting these values: <gains voice.gain.rx.analog.handset="0" voice.gain.rx.analog.headset="0" voice.gain.rx.analog.chassis="3" voice.gain.rx.analog.chassis.obs="-12"

Replaygain backend and ogg123 patch
My replaygain player side backend code is up at savannah: https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/vgplay/ Pull it from CVS for the time being, as the file area isn't up and working just yet. It applies album and track gain values as scale factors to float pcm and includes an arbitary value preamp, a couple of limiting strategies. There's also helper function to pull the replaygain

how do I make my headset work
How do I make my headset work. Before I try it with anything else, I'd like to make it work with arecord and aplay. VLC and movie player can make sounds with my external speakers. though not in my headset yet. I've got an insignia NS-PAH5101 headset. As directed, the red connector is in the pink spot and the green connector in green spot in the back of my computer. arecord folloed by aplay

Playback + Replay Gain questions
I'm hoping to set up a headless system to playback my audio once I get back home after an extended leave. Ideally I'd just ssh in and use a curses based player to play back FLACs and mp3s. This leads me to a few quesitons: 1. What is the minimun processor speed needed to decode and play flac files? I have an old P100 I would like to use for the task if it is sufficient. 2. When

plugin optimizations
Here is all-in-one patch, if this is a problem, i will try to make separated patches. Changes: plugin_common/ * FLAC__plugin_common__pack_pcm_signed_little_endian * accept FLAC__int32 *input[] * supports more channels * fixed clipping bug (BTW, random number generator in dither.c is low quality, it should be replaced, generator in replaygain is much better) *

New xmms vorbis plugin
I've written an updated xmms vorbis plugin, which is currently available from the vgplay cvs as a file tree and patch: http://savannah.nongnu.org/cvs/?group=vgplay (Once some file area problems are sorted, I'll put the patch there for easier access). It's a patch or Input/vorbis tree for xmms 1.2.8 and includes the following features: - Replaygain is now implemented using

Such a nice codec! Soundcard recommendations?
Wow! Ogg is sounding _really_ fine these days. Waaaay past my ability to tell from CD on my crappy sound card, even at pretty low bitrates. Which leads to my question: there's a huge difference between what my sound card puts out and what my CD player can do (Rotel RCD-950 to Classe' Audio Twenty preamp to Acurus A80 amp to Epos ES-12 speakers, in case anyone cares). If my computer is

(Un)Usefulness of Vorbisgain?
I've just Replaygained several of my Vorbis albums with Vorbisgain, ranging from 80's metal to present day soft rock. What I don't understand is why does Vorbisgain actually make all tracks QUIETER? I see an average of -7db on most albums. And after that, not only are they substantially quieter than my MP3s (which is a pain), but it also fails to really "even out" the volume.

R128gain & metaflac
Hi has anyone looked at adding R128gain code to metaflac so we can select to use this calculation for RP tags rather than replay gain? test_metaflac fails in make check for flac 1.1.2 after --add-padding is performed
Josh, I applied this patch and all the "make check" tests passed (but I do not have valgrind and I did not use --enable-exhaustive-tests during configure, so it isn't all the tests). Do you see anything suspicious about it? --- flac-1.1.2.oldBuild/src/flac/decode.c 2005-01-24 20:13:46.000000000 -0800 +++ flac-1.1.2/src/flac/decode.c 2006-09-06 23:36:26.000000000 -0700

Inexpensive Flac player for separates system?
I'm after the cheapest way to decode a flac stream with following criteria; - Transport from UPnP (DNLA) NAS using either WiFi or Cat5 networking - Toslink digital out for using existing HiFi DAC. - Low power consuption (eg just few Watts - it's just a decoder anyway). There seems a real lack of Flac players that are cheap and HiFi separates integratable like current-day CD players. All

flac on pocket pc
Hello Josh and flac-dev, I've got libflac and libflac++ implemented as dll's on the pocket pc using embedded visual C++ 4.0 . The target system with this environment is pocket pc 2003 (windows ce 4.20). I used the project files provided on the FLAC pages from the unofficial port for pocket pc. These were limited in usefulness due to no sources included with them. However, I did use the

winamp plugin can't apply +'ve replaygain
I've recently encoded some older CDs to flac that ended up with a positive album ReplayGain value. (+2.0dB) Problem is they sound noticeably quieter then other albums when played through winamp. (Album mode and ReplayGain are on) When played through foobar2000 they are louder as I would expect. I did a few tests. When the Preamp is down to -24 all playback is very quiet. When I put it up

A new era in Radio! Don't miss The Experimental Beat! (fwd)
Hello, Excuse the blatent self-promotion and certain degree of off-topicness, but I thought people here might find this of interest. We just recorded a radio show using Fideliphone (www.fideliphone.com) which uses CELT. Not sure exactly which version but the most recent release of Fideliphone was in May so it's probably not the most recent version. Anyway it performed beautifully! I

vorbisfile ov_pack_pcm patch
Here's a patch to vorbisfile.c in libvorbis that splits the float to integer pcm packing out of ov_read into it's own function. The good stuff: - ov_pack_pcm can be used by folks who decode to float pcm with ov_read_float to do various sound manipulations (eg, preamp, fades, replaygain). No more need to roll your own, which will really begin to pay off when 24 bit output gets
