Prayer, Maildir and Folders whose names begin with "."

I think I've just had one of my fears confirmed: not Dovecot-specific
exactly, but it affects how we will use of Prayer (Webmail Software)
with Dovecot...
Currently our production service uses MBX-format mailboxes with the
UW IMAP server; we also use the University of Cambridge "Prayer"
software for Webmail.

An option to test what will be done by the puppet client?
Hi,
I can''t find an option of the puppetd client that can just print what
the puppetd client will do on my system (updateing files, installing
softwares, etc), but without doing all the things (like a "diff"
between the current state of my system and the state defined on the
puppet server).
Is such option exists ?

very new user having problems
I just loaded CentOS and want to connect to the internet using a radio and
wireless internet.
I got some numbers from the internet provider. He walked me through some of
the changes in the networking area. But it did not work.
I have read three books on Unix and I am determined to do this. but I think
I need lots of help.
Where could I look this up on a windows machine??

Search with specified charset
I've seen a problem with searching in the Prayer webmail client that
turns out to be caused by Prayer insisting on a charset called
"ISO-8859-1" and Dovecot, using Solaris iconv, not recognising it (all
the Solaris 8 iconv modules appear to be "ISO8859-1" etc. or just "8859-1").
This isn't a problem in Linux:
% iconv --list | grep 8859.1/
8859_1//

Parity between native types and defined types
I want to create native types (despite that fact that apparently nobody
wants to) to manage a variety of resources under a common namespace.
However, I can''t seem to get the namespacing going right.
With a defined type, I can do this:
define backup_ninja::config(blah, baz) {
...
}
But that''s not much use to me, as a defined type just isn''t going to cut the
mustard

Kerberos in OpenSsh 2.9.9p2
I note with interest that Kerberos support is now available (for the version
1 protocol, at least) in OpenSSH 2.9.9p2. However, it does not build with MIT
Kerberos, due to the usual Heimdal/MIT library differences. These look, by
and large, like the same problems I encountered when porting Dan Kouril's
patch to MIT Kerberos - so I'm having a go at fixing them (my GSSAPI patches

Samba and NetBios
Howdy. I am putting in two new file servers over the summer which I would like to run Linux. Ideally these servers would be running Samba to share out home directories. It will be a member of a domain. I have a test server, linux-01, which I have joined to the domain and have some shares setup. Here is my problem.

ChanSpy - Should I repatch it ?
With the deafening silence from my previous questions, I feel seriously
alone in the desire to have ChanSpy available.
I want to be able to perform a "ZapBarge" on an Agents conversation, and
ChanSpy was the answer to my prayers.
Bug #2379 (http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0002379) was
closed "bkw918 10-27-04 17:06 Closed pending new changes in cvs-head."
These changes do not seem to be in CVS-HEAD as of today.
Do I need to make the old patch work against current CVS-HEAD, or is it

Network interfaces (and deleting them)
I''m in a bit of a pickle and I can''t work out a safe way to do

network interfaces. The built in method didn''t seem to work, so I
designed this to write out the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-

Can't connect to auth server at default: Connection refused
We've being running with Dovecot 1.0-stable since Tuesday, and on the
whole it's gone very well (meaning nobody's noticed!). My best estimate
is we're using half the disk accesses and 2/3 the CPU of UW-IMAP/Qpopper.
We've quite a mixture of error messages in the logs, the most worrying
of which is that several times we've had a few seconds of "xxx-login:

PHP 7.x on CentOS 7 : which solution ?

documentation will do. The problem is not so much that there is no
information on the subject. It's rather : there's too much. As we say in

Some issues in Dovecot 1.2.5 after upgrade from 1.0.15
We upgraded from Dovecot 1.0.15 to 1.2.5 last night, on Solaris 10 using
mboxes, mostly without issues.
However I had to trash the index/cache files (too many folders were
showing corruption issues which is especially bad for Prayer Webmail
".prayer" folders that store preferences; Prayer sees a disconnection as
the folder being missing!).
