[PATCH] Add option to Move for disabling server position sync on each notify
...That's why some kinds of "forks" were made to disable this new feature
(see the "bouge" plugin), so I decided, instead of use "another" plugin
simply to patch the git move plugins to add an option that will allow
users to decide which move type should be used.
So pratically, I've looked what has been really changed in commit [1]
(the one in which David applied the new sync-move), and pratically I
edited it until I got all working in both the ways. To made this
selectable by users I've added an "compare_server_motion" option, that
is enabled in the...

Best pratice for this scenario
Hello all,
I'm in the middle of the migration of an old web-server to a new CentOS.
Let me explain how things work now, I have a group of devs that use the
same user to work on the sites, this have a problem because we never know
who alter witch file.
Most of the files on the old web-server are owned like devuser:apache
and in the new one I setup LDAP-Auth to get the real users but the

And for lazy people - as me - who started with Sernet's packages and then
switched to compiled version there is an option from ./configure script
called "--enable-fhd" which is meant to install Samba DB and stuffs into
/var/lib/samba as with Sernet's packages.

Best Pratice for installing samba package in production environment
Hello Helmut,
thank you for your feedback.
I think that i am not making my self clear enough.
Independant of the distribution, is it recommended to install Samba4 tar
ball version in a production environment, or sernet package ?
I know that with sernet you can have benefit of support, so it may be an
advantage.
But what about if i choose to install code source version downloaded from

Good pratice with a Linux Gateway / Traffic Shapping
Hi,
I am the network administrator of my company, I know quite well Windows networking and a few about Linux and its amazing routing and QOS capabilities.
Right now, we have a bustable T1, which mean that the bill increase with out T1 use.
I have decided to find a way to shape the traffic so I can stay at a raisonable speed of 256 kb/s (Up/down) on my T1.
I have linux gateway with 2 nics behind a

Dear Rowland,
thank you for your mail and the details provided.
In that case, i suppose that it will be possible for someone that initially
install the sernet 4.2.X version, to receive the earlier updates of
samba4 after subcription.
I mean that passing to the earlier version of samba sernet package without
migrating active directory to another server.
Thank you again one more time.

running an icecast server
Hello everyone,
I'm in the process of running an Icecast server and I would like to know
some best pratices.
1. Should I place Icecast on port 8000 or should I change that to one more
common (80, 443...)?
2. Should I place the server behind a webserver like ngingx or apache?
3.Can I disable the login interface? what can be disabled?
My best guess is to run icecast behind a webserver,

How to organize/develop an R function
Hi
Maybe this is not an issue about R. It's probably a programming issue
and I am not a developer at all. Anyway my main developing activities
are in R and that's where I have difficulties.
When I develop a function or group of functions I lose eternities with
the objects attributes and classes. I do a lot of object manipulation
(lists to arrays, factors to numeric vectors, etc, etc) so

Hello,
Everything happens as you have described it, expr5 is accessible outside
{}. Whether it is advantageous to solve pratical problems is another
thing. The way f() is called creates variable `input` and this can be
seen in many places of the R sources. Personally, I find it harder to
read and prefer to break that one-liner into two instructions.
The code below shows a seldom pratical feature, if ever, put to work....

can I create lib.a from dir/lib.a?
...y := dir/ before the final lib.a
But reading "man ar" it was not obvious if:
ar cp lib.a dir/lib.a dir2/lib.a file1.o file2.o
would produce the desired result.
The linux kernel uses lr -r instead, but thats not libraries.
I could try it out but thought asking the list could reveal some
pratical experiences.

I think you have to define a topology of the domain, using ADSS:

defining links and weight.

dovecot performance
Hello All,
I've been studying dovecot for replacing my company's current system
and I got a little worried about an aspect of the dovecot's design.
I was surprised that dovecot doesn't use prefork for its mail
processes, forking a new processes for each new client connection.
Talking in the #dovecot channel I was gave a scenario of a system
supporting ~40k users with 4 servers
