Is there a Rails portlet like plugin/framework? (i.e. just basic to allow users to move windows around)
Hi,
Just wondering if there is a Rails Plugin/GEM/Framework to aid in letting
users move around (adjust) where the main page windows are. Perhaps
maximize and minimize. I guess this pretty much sounds like a portlet,
however I''m not asking the Rails true portlet integration question here, but
rather if there is something in the Rails world that just satisfies the
basics of a portlet

Rortlet, portlets on rails
I''ve started a new project to create a plugin for portlets in Rails.
It''s at http://www.assembla.com/space/rortlet
If anyone is interested, I''d love some help. Please email
james@knowledgeincorporated if you want to help out.
My vision for the first round is a framework that does essentially

Why Struts2 use dojo instead of Scriptaculous?
Hi,
I''m using prototype/Scriptaculous in my open source project JSControlsTags
http://jscontrolstags.sourceforge.net/
I''m Struts user and in the new version Struts2, the framework integrate AJAX
with dojo
and not with Prototype/Scriptaculous. I asked in the Struts forum, why
Struts2 integrate
by default dojo and not scriptaculous.
Here Struts answer :

snmp-ups sends status "OL OB" on HP R3000 UPS with AF465A management card [UPDATE]
Additional question: I noticed on the HP Website that the latest version
of "CPQPOWER.MIB" (1.76, dated Sept. 19, 2013) was more recent than the
related file (./drivers/compaq-mib.c) in the NUT driver.
Is the MIB structure as implemented on the management card perhaps no
longer in line with the NUT driver ?
The latest MIB file can be downloaded from the following URL:

snmp-ups sends status "OL OB" on HP R3000 UPS with AF465A management card [UPDATE]
Further information on this issue, attn. Arnaud Quette:
Here is the result of a test I made a few days ago. I've pulled the
input plug on the UPS and watched the 3 critical OIDs through a MIB browser:
- 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.165.3.4.5.0 goes from 3 (OL) to 5 (OB)
(as expected => good)
- 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.165.3.7.3.0 stays at 1 (OB)
(=> seems meaningless)
- 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.165.3.7.4.0

Random Proliant Crashes CentOS 6.1
I've been seeing some random Proliant DL380 G4 64bit crashes. Each time,
on the console are messages relating tojbd2/cciss and something about a
waitfor 120 seconds. Is anybody else seeing anything like this? Oddly, I
can't seem to find this in the logs. I guess it can't write when this
happens.

How to make Draggable Widgets with Placeholders
Hello. I''m trying to do some drag-droppable widgets like
Netvibes.com ...
I''m completely looking for a code like Netvibes. How can I do that
with Prototype or Script.aculo.us?
I want to make them droppable on placeholders like netvibes.
Any ideas or links? Thanks.

snmp-ups sends status "OL OB" on HP R3000 UPS with AF465A management card
Hello list,
I've installed NUT on an HP blade server, and I try to get it
communicating via SNMP with 2 HP R3000 UPSes, each fitted with a AF465A
management card. To do this, I used the snmp-ups driver, and configured
it for the "cpqpower" MIB. Communication with the UPSes is established.
My problem is that both UPSes constantly return the "OL OB" status
which, in

Scriptaculous: Sortable (dragdrop.js) onUpdate
Hi all,
In the following code, it doesn''t look like the onUpdate() event is firing.
Am I doing something wrong?

Components going out of style?
I see in the new Agile Rails 2nd edition that components are going out
of style?
Is this so? has anybody abandoned the idea of components for helpers?
Specifically I''m considering a menu sytem for a website that depends
heavily on the users permissions to decide which menu options a user
would need to see. I thought that components, since they have the logic

Content overlapping IE7 scrollbars?
...answer numerous times, but can''t
find it. Apologies if this has been posted here before.
I have a frameset in IE7 with a top and bottom frame (I know... frames
suck. No choice here). The bottom frame is where all the action is,
specifically, a portal with draggable (sortable, actually) portlets.
Anyway, I get this funky problem where the content overlaps the native
IE scrollbars on the left and bottom when Scriptaculous and Prototype
are included in the document. I have debugged such that all elements
are unstyled, so I know it''s not any styles on my side. The problem
happens...

IE and the activeX security warning
I''ve been testing my page, which not only includes my new slider code
but the drag and drop code as well. You can see it here:

My issue is that in IE, I get the annoying security warning across the
top saying ''IE has restricted this file from showing active content that
could access your computer''. If I allow the

Drupal vs. Ruby on Rails
Hello all,
Maybe the $subj is a little bit weird (i.e. apples vs oranges) but it is
a situation i am facing at the moment: We are developing a small web
site which will be mostly a CMS (more or less) and my colleagues is
arguing for drupal, and i am for RoR.
Maybe i can formulate the question in a different way: when to use a CMS
(not necessarily drupal but e.g. Radiant CMS) and when to use Ruby

Status of Prototype
Hi *,
we are using prototype in Apache MyFaces as our javascript library of
choice. Recently, there has been much discussion on our mailing list
as to the usability of prototype in a dynamic environments where
several javascript libraries are used.
The critics of prototype argue that the prototype objects are not
namespaced - and that prototype extends basic javascript-objects with
method names
