USB Disk
I put a new server together with CentOS 4. This server is doing a number of functions including ntp, mail, and web server. I had a USB drive plugged in and it was working great. I could access it at /media/usbdisk and I copied lots of data to it. I felt the server was "complete" so I wanted to move it. I shut it down, moved it, etc. Everything is ok, except that I cannot access the

Problems connecting to APC/Smart-UPS 3000 RM
Hi all, I have an APC/Smart-UPS 3000 RM that I am trying to connect to nut via the usb port. I have nut running just fine on several other machines using APC ups's via the serial ports but this usb thing is making me crazy. If I do a "/sbin/newhidups -u root -D -a PS1" it recgonizes the ups and dumps a bunch of information like below: (porky pts12) # /sbin/newhidups -u root -D -D

sieve: store string list in varable
Hi, I'm working on a Sieve script and want to store a list of addresses in a variable to easily access the list multiple times later. For example I want to transform this: if address :is "from" ["daffy.duck at example.com", "porky.pig at example.com", "speedy.gonzales at example.com"] { fileinto "friends"; } into something like

Mail delivery failing with 450
I'm not sure why this started, but apparently I'm having a DNS problem. Yesterday mail started bouncing with this error: 450 Unable to find obrien-pifer.com I think the messages eventually get delivered, but not sure. I guess I'll see if this one makes the list. I checked my domain using http://www.checkdns.net/ and it gives me a couple warnings. One is that there's no MX

Compression Artifacts at -q 5. Help!
Hi Everyone, My first posting to the list. Longtime Ogg fan, have created many .oggs, but this is the first time needing help. I've been transferring CDs to Ogg files using crip. I've been in the process of setting up a bunch of mules to transfer my music collection to electronic format, but I've found an oddity: >bash$ oggenc -q 5 oddity.wav >Opening with wav

I appear to be attacking others
It looks like my CentOS 4.2 box is attacking other people with some type of ftp attack. I got an email from somebody saying they were being attacked by my IP address. Further investigation /var/log/messages shows a whole bunch of sshd attacks on me, none of which appear successful. I'm running ethereal right now and I can see that my system is doing some kind of ftp attacks on others.

[LLVMdev] LLVM MinGW binaries on Vista issue
Hello, Jon > To make it easier to use the LLVM-GCC MinGW32 binary and meet your GPL licensing requirements, could you embed the MinGW binutils binary as-is in the LLVM-GCC MinGW32 and update the LLVM docs to point to the MinGW SourceForge download site for those wanting the MinGW binutils source? I still don't think it's good idea. binutils will add something like 10Mb to package

Installing R on RedHat7.0
I recently got a new machine, running RedHat Linux 7.0 (kernel 2.2.16, XFree864.0.1), and tried to install R-1.1.1 on it from the rpm file on CRAN. RPM complained about missing dependencies: libreadline.so.3 libtcl8.0 libtk8.0 The RH7.0 installation includes later versions of these libraries. I went ahead and forced an installation, and of course R wouldn't work. By linking

Info required
Hello, We would like more information on how to install the Samba suite. We are using SCO OpenServer Unix v 5.0 and want to interface with Windows NT 4.0 & Windows 98 clients. Note : We have downloaded the entire package from your site and tried to install it, but the first step (configuring Samba) couldn't be carried out as we could not locate the ".configure" file. The

Samba mount (from one of our build scripts). We decided to upgrade to RedHat 7.2 (which uses a newer version of Samba -- 2.1.1b IIRC), maybe that fixes the problem. However, I decided to submit this bug report, in the hope that it may help kill some bugs. (Remember -- the only good bug, is a dead bug :)) So, here is the dmesg output: Linux version 2.2.16-22enterprise

is turned on. Can anybody kind to confirm with me? Our network is using a mix of Win2k server, Win2k Pro, Win98, Win95 and WinMe machines, where the Win2k server is the domain controller and terminal service applications server and the Samba is a member fileserver of the domain. All workstations logon and mount the samba file services. We'd like to check if the problem could be solved by

I will get a smbd process started. (If this is incorrect please let me know ;) But this morning I did a quick ps -ax on my machine and found *two* smbd -D in the process list. But as far as I know there is no connection to the samba server right now. I did connect to and disconnect from the server yesterday but I would think that that connection would have been released by now. Can anyone
