dovecot LDA w/virtual domains and postfix
...issing something. I get the following when trying to send the user a message: setuid(1015) failed: Operation not permitted Doing 'postmap -q leah at frauerpower.com ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap-mailbox.cf' returns 'frauerpower.com/leah/mail/' which, in the non LDA mode worked okay, plonking the mail under /var/vmail/domains/frauerpower.com/leah/mail How is this sort of thing normally set up? Apologies in advance for my ignorance, I am pretty new to dovecot. Leah

One of our squid proxies crashed today. I was able to make a screenshot of it's last utterings - and since ext3 is being mentioned there, I thought I'd mention it here: http://www.arschkrebs.de/images/proxy-cbf-2-crash.png # uname -a Linux proxy-cbf-2 2.6.21 #1 SMP Thu Apr 26 11:17:54 CEST 2007 i686 GNU/Linux # mount /dev/cciss/c0d0p5 on / type auto (rw,errors=remount-ro) tmpfs on

Squirrelmail: "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server."
Hi, running the current version from http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot/ (but the same happens with 1.1.beta3) After yesterday's patches, squirrelmail (tested with 1.4.11 and 1.4.10a) complains when appending to the Sent folder (after sending a message): ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server. Query: SELECT "INBOX" dovecot's log says dovecot: IMAP(jh): Disconnected: EOF while

Hi, http://plonk.de/sw/dovecot/dovecot.sqlite.4.diff It uses sqlite3 and is not heavily tested, but it works quite fine here. Have fun!

Login with firstname.lastname instead of loginname
Some of our users use to login as firstname.lastname or firstname.lastname at charite.de instead of using the "correct" "flastname" login name. In order to get this behaviour a long-gone co-worker wrote an authdaemon.pl, which speaks the courier-authdaemon protocol. How can I emulate this behaviour with dovecot? Basically, all I need is a usernamen mapping ala:

Nmbd: Static Mappings - To replace a microsoft server.
...server2 10.1.0.1 server3 and these resolve fine. This is the only way I could find to do static mappings the same as M$ WINS server did. Now, the next problem I have it I need to replicate the static mappings, Domain entry. ie, Static Mappings, Add Mapping, Select Domain and start plonking addresses of your domain controllers. In short how? I don't think my settings above are ideal but I've not found out what is the way to do it. Why static addresses you might ask (like many others I've talked to). 1. for Servers of which I don't have control (on a WAN) 2. for S...

HT-488 vs. SPA-3000?
Hello, Just want to tap the collective wisdom of this list as to experiences pertaining to the Handytone HT488 and the Sipura SPA-3000 adapters... Basically I'm looking for a FXO/FXS/LAN ATA and these two seems to be the top of the pick..Any comments and experiences esp. with Asterisk compatibility would be great, before I plonk in the bucks. TIA. /wai-sun

courier-dovecot-migrate.pl destroyed my indices... still recovering...
I tried to disable courier-pop3 today in favour of dovecot pop3. Prior to that I ran: find /home -maxdepth 1 -type d | xargs --replace /usr/local/scripts/courier-dovecot-migrate.pl --overwrite --recursive --convert {} ( /home is hashed two levels deep: /home/a/a/aanton/Maildir/ ) After that, I got lots of errors like: Aug 9 13:02:40 postamt dovecot: IMAP(azenclu): Maildir

Active Directory Migration Tools - breaks samba 2.x.x?
Hi, We are migrating from an NT domain to a 2003 AD and using the migration tools to nicely move the users across. However, we have just realized that a user created manually can see a samba 2.0.6 server no worries, but a user that has been migrated using the Migration Tools gets an access denied. Anybody come across this one before? It's probably some bodj work around from
