simple predict question
Excuse the simple question... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with predict, but let me use this example: Suppose I do: dat<-matrix(c(0,0,10,20),2,byrow=T) lm1<-lm(dat[,2]~dat[,1]) Suppose I want to generate the linearly-interpolated y-values between the point (0,0) and (0,20) at every unit interval. I thought I just do: predict(lm1, data.frame(seq(0,10,1))) to get

Preserve TARGET perms, user and group would be nice
...r,group and perms as they were. ie root creates a new file on the sending system, rsyncs it to the home dir of the user, leaving the perms untouched. Seems there is no option for this - the users are not defined on the sending system. I cant do it backwards due to firewall regulations. Time Series - ARIMA differencing problem
Hi, I have been using this website ( http://www.stat.pitt.edu/stoffer/tsa2/Rissues.htm http://www.stat.pitt.edu/stoffer/tsa2/Rissues.htm ) to help me to fit ARIMA models to my data. At the moment I have two possible methods to use. Method 1 If I use arima(ts.data, order=c(1,2,0), xreg=1:length(ts.data)) then the wrong value for the intercept/mean is g...

openssh 3.1 and rsync dont work - BUTssh 2.9.9.p1 does !
...an installp and a gcc compiled version of 2.4.5 ( by me ) both have exactly the same problem with SSH 3.1.p1 and both DONT have the problem with SSH 2.9.9p1 - so I assume this is something highly specific to SSH 3.1.1.p1 Hope this helps - I am reluctant to start swapping signals around etc. Mark Pitt SP Administrator IBM, Campus Winterthur 058-333-1542 Dave Dykstra <dwd@bell-labs.com> on 09.05.2002 16:34:57 Please respond to Dave Dykstra <dwd@bell-labs.com> To: Mark Pitt/Switzerland/Contr/IBM@IBMCH cc: rsync@lists.samba.org Subject: Re: openssh 3.1 and rsync dont work...

A question about stepwise procedures: step function
Dear all, I tried to use "step" function to do model selection, but I got an error massage. What I don't understand is that data as data.frame worked well for my other programs, how come I cannot make it run this time. Could you please tell me how I can fix it? ***************************************************************************************************

Problems with arima function (PR#8743)
I have written before, but to no avail. I have found two minor problems with fitting time series models with R. The thing is, they may be solved with MINOR adjustments to the code. I have posted these problems with detailed examples here: http://www.stat.pitt.edu/stoffer/tsa2/Rissues.htm Briefly, the problems are (1) When fitting time series models when there is an AR term present, the output says it's giving you the estimate of the intercept, when, in fact, it's giving you the estimate of the mean. These are NOT the same when an AR term is...
