cgroup support
Hi, I am setting up a system that enforces cgroup restrictions when a user logs in via SSH, and for all the services that are run by a particular user. I am also running dovecot to give users IMAP/POP access to their mailboxes. However, to be part of a cgroup, PIDs must be explicitly added to the cgroup tasks file. So for now, all my processes are run with resource restrictions, except for

[CFT] ASLR, PIE, and segvguard on 11-current and 10-stable
...] Address Space Layout Randomization, or ASLR for short, is an exploit mitigation technology. It helps secure applications against low-level exploits. A popular secure implementation is known as PaX ASLR, which is a third-party patch for Linux. Our implementation is based off of PaX's. Oliver Pinter, Danilo Egea, and I have been working hard to bring more features and robust stability to our ASLR patches. We've done extensive testing on amd64. We'd like to get as many people testing these patches. Given the nature of them, we'd also like as many eyeballs reviewing the code as well....

Is print-serving this easy? Also, Sol8 compile problem
I plan to install Samba 3 on a Solaris 8 server in order to publish some local queues to a few Windows users -- but no file sharing. Is it as simple as configure; make; make install and then share out a few queues? I'd like to add password protection to these pinters, but I can't decide on whether to hand off all authentication to our Active Directory server or just to use one shared (d'oh!) password per printer. (It's really just to defeat casual users, and people who send a print job by mistake.) That leads me to my second question: I read thr...

Raw Printing, was cupsaddsmb and .inf files
...ere and what worked didn't seem to resemble this at all. Though I would like to expand on this and maybe list some alternatives for differnt versions of windows. What I ended up doing was useing the Add Printer Wizard (APW) on a win2k client, and it went like this: Add printer, Select Network pinter, Connect to a printer on the internet or a local printer. Type in the URL which was http://192.168.0.4:631/printers/MyPrinter_Raw. I tried most other things that involved the other option of "Type the printer name or click Next to browse for a printer". I could see the printers just fine...

9.2-RC4 amd64 panic: vm_page_unwire
I'm running 9.2-RC4 on a handful of desktop and server machines (both i386 and amd64). I have seen three panics (all vm_page_unwire) on one of those systems only (amd64 server) during the past week. The first two panics were triggered when shutting down the ntpd daemon (a recent development snapshot version of ntpd: 4.2.7p387). Exiting a later release (p388) has not triggered the panic.

Login script for Win95 machines
On my Samba server I created a directory called 'netlogon' and I put a batch file in there called 'login.bat'. Also did I create a share called 'netlogon' which points to the 'netlogon' directory. I set up samba to use a login script (login script=netlogon/login.bat). Strange enough it does not seem to be executed when Win95 clients logon. If I double-click the

I think I could do what I want with the right kinds of variable passing that doesn't yet exist. Let me see if I can explain clearly. From the example in the wiki: auth_master_user_separator = * passdb { driver = sql args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql-master.conf.ext

Samba 2.2 alpha3 released
Hi all, I have just released the fourth alpha snapshot of what will become Samba 2.2.0. It's available from the usual ftp sites, in the alpha directory as : <ftp mirror>:/pub/samba/alpha/samba-2.2.0-alpha3.tar.gz If people could test this snapshot out and provide feedback about what is broken and let the lists know that would help. The problem acting as a PDC for
