Re: Issue with libguestfs-test-tool on a guest hosted on VMWare ESXi
...w, is there a way I can change the qemu default machine type? I mean when
I specify *-machine pc *it picks up pc-i440fx-2.8 by default.
Or is it tied to the underlying host hardware?

Redhat 7.3 as CentOS 5 domU
Hello,
What is the simpliest way to run Redhat 7.3 server as CentOS 5 domU?
I see that Xen emulates Intel PIIX ATA controller for HVM domUs but
latest kernel of Redhat 7.3 (2.4.20-20.7smp) has no ata_piix kernel
module yet. Is it possible to download it somewhere or there is
another way? :)
And I'd like to avoid reinstalling them with the new OS. Preferably
they'd just die their own death in thei...

Isn't the VT-d register space separate from other Q35 features and
backwards-compatible? You could even add it to PIIX in theory just by
adding a DMAR.
It's not like for example SMRAM, where the registers are in the
northbridge configuration space and move around in every chipset generation.

DMA mode
Hi folks,
I have an HP Proliant 140DL G2 server with what appears to be an IDE
drive in non-DMA mode. Performance on the server is extremely bad
when large amounts of disk activity is taking place.
I think the problem is that my drive is not in DMA mode:
# hdparm /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
multcount = 16 (on)
IO_support = 0 (default 16-bit)
unmaskirq = 0 (off)
using_dma = 0 (off)

installing xen-3.0.3 on AMD sempron, CentOS4.4

Hi
I''m currently using xen-3.0.2-testing on several servers. But when xen
3.0.3 was announced I wanted to try it, of course it should have several
iprovements and bugfixes, etc.
I did the same steps I was previously done in order to compile
xen-3.0.2, and in fact xen compiled and installed very cleanly.
I created my initrd image and then I

We don''t have nearly as many and yet, we see occasional errors ("End of

AHCI at boot?
...tallation dvd or a fedora 9 dvd, the kernel
boots just fine, loads up the ahci module and sees the drives no
problem.
So I'm wondering what config files I need to tweak, to help the
already installed system use the "new" ahci controller? Previously,
it appears to have been using the piix module to access the drive with
the root fs on it.
I'm using the 64-bit 2.6.18-92.1.18 centosplus kernel (for XFS support).
The box is running an asus dsbf-de board, with 2x e5405 cpus and 16g
of ram. There are six drives on the ahci, one 80g "system" drive (the
boot drive), and fi...
