I can''t imagine what would cause this except maybe something relating to load or just some random weirdness. Can you describe for me the architecture of your puppetmaster system (hardware) and the OS and library versions of Ruby?

We have a few configurations that serve dozens of files just for that server, so maybe it''s the total number of files that we''re serving that way that''s a factor. -- Russ Allbery (rra@stanford.edu) <http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/>

So I will be keeping a close eye on production. The puppetmaster runs CentOS 4.1 and has 2 GB of RAM, dual 2.80 GHz Xeons and a PIIX SATA controller. I think it has some kind of Tyan mobo. We use the CentOS 4 testing repo version of Ruby (ruby 1.8.5 (2006-08-25) [i386-linux]). Anything else you''d like to know? -- Jos Backus jos at catnook.com

So we''re not really stressing the file transfer part. Puppetmaster server load is low. -- Jos Backus jos at catnook.com

Our number is really low at the moment, plus they are small files to begin with. -- Jos Backus jos at catnook.com
