persiting complex R objects
Is there a method to save a large and complex R object (either as a
binary or text file) so that it can be loaded and reused at a later
time? Specifically, I am creating large lists (several thousand
elements), each element of which is either a vector or a matrix (with ~
2000 rows). The dimensions of the matrices are not all the same. My
ideal would be a set of functions of the form

rename network card device /dev/p3p2 to /dev/eth0
...daemon found the host ID. But lmgrd and safetech can't communicate together.
As next I will try to rename /dev/p3p2 which is the device for the Ethernet card. I guess, if I can generate a device called /dev/eth0 for the Ethernet card the license server should work. But in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persitant-net.rules is no rule for this device.
How can I configure centos to generate /dev/eth0 for the Ethernet card?

How to allow specific services for machines in LAN behind router?
Hi
I know I still need to learn a lot about firewalls so if I''ve missed
some doc I should have read don''t hesitate to point it out to me.
I have set up shorewall on my desktop and my laptop and everything
appears to be working fine but now I''d like to allow certain services
(like shh, rsync, unison, http) between these two PC''s.
My LAN looks like this:

swapped mouse buttons and slow down in wine
...and patched the reg with the local\software keys from the
xp reg. The program worked (kind of - japanese chars dont display except
when using japnese lang locale) but from the moment I first launched it
the mouse buttons where swapped on my mouse, and wine became painfully
slow. This effect is persitant anywhere in wine, even regedit and
winecfg now behave this way (slow and inverted mouse). I could prehaps
get used to the mouse being backwards but the performance is too painful.
New versions of wine don't seem to support a wine.config file, but the
config file had more configurability...

queues
Is there anyway to setup a queue with only one agent (device) which is
always logged in. So when a call hits that queue the device will ring (if
not already on a call) or will be put in the queue if the call is already in
place?
Thanks

Balancing multiple connections and NAT
Hi,
I have a client connected to the ''net through 3 ISP''s. Have set up a
Linux box to do routing and load sharing for the 3 connections. A
fourth interface is connected to the LAN with private IP addresses.
Am using iptables to SNAT traffic to the appropriate IP depending on
the interface the packet gets routed onto. The setup looks something

New user, requesting help with MAC installation of R
Hi:
Yesterday I downloaded R and got it up and running on my PC without a
hitch, not so when I tried to do the same on my Mac powerbook, using
Mac OSX: version 10.4.11.. I have virtually no experience, so I
can't tell what exactly went wrong.
At first it appeared that the software loaded correctly, it seemed
like I was able to install R , and I even successfully unpacked

Program logic behind Ruby On Rails
Hi, I''m a newbie in both Ruby and Ruby on Rails. I finished the Ruby on
Rail Tutorial on Todo list and it was great. But, now I''m trying to
understand the logic behind it, that is something that is not obvious on
how each one of them ties together.
Is there a flowchart that shows how the inner working of Ruby on Rails?

I ran into the following problem when trying to boot another guest after less than a day of uptime.

Both host as pv guests run the same kernel, some hvm''s run a slightly older kernel (3.9 f.e.)

[PATCH] Persistent grant maps for xen blk drivers
This patch implements persistent grants for the xen-blk{front,back}
mechanism. The effect of this change is to reduce the number of unmap
operations performed, since they cause a (costly) TLB shootdown. This
allows the I/O performance to scale better when a large number of VMs
are performing I/O.
Previously, the blkfront driver was supplied a bvec[] from the request
queue. This was granted to
