Resampler set_rate improvements
.... BTW, do you know
> how often the rate gets updated?
The rate is, by default, updated every 10 seconds. And sometimes
(especially with the not-so-recent unreviewed patches) we do get lucky
and resample from 44100 to 44100 Hz, and the next 10 seconds from 44100
to 44101 Hz.

Re: [systemd-devel] systemd-udevd: excessive I/O usage
...was told on #btrfs that it is a
one-time thing, but apparently it wants to do its caching every boot
due to some breakage. During the boot, there are also warnings about
hung tasks with some locks held.
I am attaching a dmesg file illustrating all of the problems mentioned above.

Register parameters are unsafe with gcc 3.3.2
...rror 14
Other shell redirections don't work either. When I comment out the
following line in klibc/klibc/arch/i386/MCONFIG:
# REGPARM_OPT := -mregparm=3 -DREGPARM
and rebuild klibc, everything works. Please take some action against
this error, e.g. update the README file.

"Destructive" utilities
...pecified program with the
remaining arguments.
Rationale: without this, it is impossible to completely reclaim the
initramfs memory from the script since at least the "chroot" binary must
exist before chrooting from a script, and it can't be removed after chroot.

kinit

system is to mount --bind the root and chroot there, as done in the
"run-init" program. Could you please copy that logic into "kinit"?
And please fix the comment at the top - there is "/init", not
"/sbin/init", in initramfs.

initrd / initramfs future
Hello,
I would like to know if initrd is here to stay, now that klibc and
initramfs are ready.
As the multipath-tools maintainer, I'm facing the choice to
1) put the multipath configuration tool in the initrd
* dynamic binary is possible
* storage hba drivers as modules loaded
* no klibc limitations (no mntent for libsysfs ...)
2) put the multipath configuration tool in the initramfs

samba-ldap and cyrillic
Hi all,
i installed a new linux with russian support. I now want to configure Samba
and OpenLDAP, but i have many problems for users and groups accounts.
Can i create a user account with cyrillic caracter (as i can on Windows) ?
It looks that i can't as memberUid attribute need to be in ASCII mode. So
how do russian people do ? I imagine that they use cyrillic caracter for
their login name,

mount.cifs and permissions
...his user could do so.
The owner of that file was expected to be that user (I wanted to have
just a workalike for NFS), but in reality it was root.
Is that a bug in SAMBA or in the kernel or just my mis-expectation? Is
it possible at all to use a SAMBA share as a NFS workalike?

Some wishes regarding revoked keys
...y wish is reasonable, please, in the next versions of OpenSSH:
1. If the user uses a certificate, also log the key fingerprint at the
default (not debug) verbosity level.
2. Make sure that the logged fingerprint is something that can be
understood by "ssh-keygen -k".

My lack of understanding of idmap
...PDC
+ BDC setup?
Are those two methods of storing uids and gids really mutually
exclusive, as I suspect? What are benefits and drawbacks of each?
Do I really need to set up idmap things and run winbindd if I want to
keep posix information in posixAccounts?
Thanks in advance,

Chicken-and-egg problem with domain SID
I'm trying to configure samba 3.0.3 from FC2 with an LDAP backend as a
domain controller. I'm using smbldap-tools from idealx.org. From what
I've read, I need to configure the domain SID in
/etc/smbldap-tools/smbldap.conf. But in order to generate the SID, I
need to be running samba on the domain controller already.
I'm trying to generate all of the config files on another

Winbind/PAM Question
Hi All,
>From the Official Samba-3 HOWTO, section 24.1:
"Winbind - The pam_winbind.so module allows Samba to obtain
authentication from any MS Windows Domain Controller. It can just as
easily be used to authenticate users for access to any PAM-enabled
application."
I understand the second part to this sentence. That is, Samba
provides 'pam_winbind.so' which allows, through
