Kernel Panic on HP/Compaq ProLiant G7
...a hardware or software issue. Some of the Google results suggested using a Centosplus kernel - is this a good idea?
The server is a HP DL380 G7 Server with 4 GB RAM (1 DIMM 1333 MHz), one 4-core CPU (2133 MHz), 4 built-in Broadcom "NetExtreme II BCM5709 II Gigabit Ethernet" NICs, and a P410 Smart Array Controller. The P410 and the system BIOS have both been updated to the latest levels to see if that fixes the crashes, with no change.
Any idea where I should look next?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Yes, and it is worth every dollar it costs. All good RAID cards will be on
the same price level. Those cheaper ones I will not let into our stables

Please advise on very fast search
Hello,
I try to create some kind of mail backup system. What I need is system
that will store mail for the whole domain, and allow me to restore
messages from/to specified email at that domain.
The scheme is pretty simple: on our main mail server the SMTP server
itself has a rule to send a copy of every message to
'backup at backupserver.host', and the backupserver.host domain is

CentOS 5.x and HP ACU CLI
I had to install C5 on a dev server for various reasons (legacy system
support and so forth). This dev server is a HP DL180 G6, with a
SmartArray P410 raid card... I've installed hpacucli via the RPM from
HP's site, but its not finding the controller... C5 (64 bit) is using
the default CCISS drivers for this card.

HP Proliant DL360 G7
Hello,
Has anyone out there been able to qualify the Proliant DL360 G7 for your Solaris/OI/Nexenta environments? Any pros/cons/gotchas (vs. previous generation HP servers) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

ZFS Appliance as a general-purpose server question
A customer is looking to replace or augment their Sun Thumper
with a ZFS appliance like 7320. However, the Thumper was used
not only as a protocol storage server (home dirs, files, backups
over NFS/CIFS/Rsync), but also as a general-purpose server with
unpredictably-big-data programs running directly on it (such as
corporate databases, Alfresco for intellectual document storage,
etc.) in order to

How does spending between 300 and 800 for an Areca 8 port pay out when you
can get a P410 for less than 100? Are they 3--8 times faster, 3--8 times
easier to replace, 3--8 times more reliable, 3--8 times easier to use,
3--8 times more durable, 3--8 times more energy efficient? What is it that
makes them worthwhile?

ssacli start rebuild?
Hi,
is there a way to rebuild an array using ssacli with a P410?
A failed disk has been replaced and now the array is not
rebuilding like it should:

physicaldrive 1I:0:1 (port 1I:box 0:bay 1, SATA HDD, 4 TB, OK)

Xen or KVM
Hi,
I am new to virtualization and I am having the obvious hassle of choosing between Xen and KVM.
Can Xen experts help me with this?
